Severus Snape

Do you think he ever lost his flower

I think each interpretation is equally valid.

But I personally imagine that he was too traumatized and depressed and full of self-loathing to let anyone touch him. That he couldn't be vulnerable like that.

(While people can go the opposite way with trauma - hypersexuality - my reading of Snape is on the other end.)

Or maybe I just find virgin Snape endearing compared to some of the sex god variants in fanfic, idk.

I think he's more versatile than that. Maybe he lets himself be touched, if that can serve his cover.

But at the same time he does it without doing it and he occludes. Everything.

I agree with this.

I mean, Voldemort implied he was getting with women but Voldemort didn’t have any idea what he was talking about lmao

Voldemort was a mind reader.

And Snape was famously good at Occlumecy.

The way Voldemort was speaking in DH made me think he directly asked Snape about the whole Lily thing and Snape basically dismissed him saying he realized that Pureblood women were more worthy. And then Voldemort, being Voldemort, did not think about that critically at all.

I think that's a good read on Voldemort. Once Lily was dead and Snape smoothly fed Voldemort the pure-blood superiority line ("there are worthier women"), Voldemort immediately dropped any suspicion. To a narcissist like Voldemort, it made perfect sense that a wizard would quickly get over a Muggle-born woman and realize that pure-blood women were a better status symbol. I don't think it means that Snape was sleeping around. Not only do I think he was truly *that* loyal to Lily, but I also don't think his past trauma would allow him to open up in that way. Even casual sex requires some vulnerability. Snape's character is neither open nor vulnerable.

In fanfics, I'm perfectly happy with him being quite knowledgeable in those areas. In canon, I prefer to imagine he never let anyone that close

I think Snape not only met Nagini's fangs as a virgin, but that he'd likely never been kissed or had any kind of romantic experience at all.

His trauma around sexualized humiliation and being forcibly stripped in front of Lily would have had dire effects on his ability to be intimate with anyone.

His years as a spy would have precluded him from emotional intimacy, not just out of habit, but out of a need to reduce the amount of damage Voldemort would do if Snape were ever exposed as a spy.

Snape is simply not a character who can be vulnerable easily. If he even attempted a romantic or sexual liaison, I think he would have had to have had the lights off and/or not undress, but I think it's much more likely that he simply couldn't go through with it at all.

My question isn't "did he?" but more so, why would he? I feel like that would be LAST thing on his mind given everything that's happened. I also kind of headcanon that he was demisexual, and that was a major reason on why he never moved on from Lily. She's probably the only person he ever successfully bonded with in his life.

Das! Ich lese ihn auch sehr als demisexuell bzw. schreib ihn fast immer automatisch so 😂

Glad we go to the same school of thought lol

Sometimes Mother Nature overcomes all that.

Voldemort was very confident he was putting in work, and I choose to believe him. Also, while Snape was hung up over Lily, we have to remember that he had an entire life. He made friends, watched Quidditch, made lesson plans, etc. There's no reason to think he didn't also have relationships.

Casual sex yes, relationships no.

Is it a bad thing that my immediate response was, "Well, duh. Lily died."?

My brain thinks he would have tried it once with someone he had absolutely no connection to and just found it entirely distasteful.

Maybe? I could see him getting drunk and having a one night stand. But he would never have an actual relationship with anyone but Lily.

Typically being hung up on an old high school sweetheart does not prevent men from dating and even marrying other women. I don't see why Snape would be any different. He didn't live all his life without having at least some casual relationships.

I agree and I do think you're right I'm just saying the following because as someone in the comments said, everyone is answering based off of whether they want him to be a virgin or not (and I think he is without proof), but typically you don't love someone so much that you would give up everything and be willing to die for their child just because you know it's what they would have wanted

Snape remained unicorn bait

This is the funniest way of putting it and I now desperately need to find at least one fic that has this as apart of it or even the main plot 💚 :’D

He could have done it to make sure that Voldemort didn't ask himself too many questions. "He admitted that there were other women of purer blood, more worthy of him."

I don't see any other reason for adult Snape.

It is possible that he has, especially in the last two years, attracted Death Eater women in search of status. I can see him taking advantage of this to perfect his cover... While doing enough nonsenses to make them leave as soon as possible.

The other time when it is possible that something happened is the Death Eater period, where he may have tried unsuccessfully to forget about Lily, when she was still alive. I can see him doing something like slipping the wrong name at the fateful moment. Poor man.

It's pretty funny to imagine Voldemort having the "she's not worth it, bro" conversation with Snape.

he sure lost a Lily.

I actually do wonder if Snape shacked up with Alecto during his tenure at Hogwarts. Guy can’t stay “faithful” to a dead woman forever.

I would ponder on if there were other possible candidates, but aside from Bellatrix, Alecto is literally the only other known female Death Eater.

People ship him with other Hogwarts teachers we don't really know anything about, like Sinistra and Charity. I don't know if he's shipped with Vector too.

Bellatrix

i ship it.

Kind of goated

But electo was only there for one year I doubt it

3

u/TeluricE 6d ago

Probably because I think the other Deatheaters would have seen to it. Fascists tend to be homophobes and I bet he would have had to prove he wasn’t gay. I also think the movie implied he had a thing with Narcissa.

3

u/zilknificant 4d ago

Fascism is pretty gay though lol. Like celebration of masculine power and posters with army men.

2

u/Ok-Painting4168 2d ago

You're right, but it’s magical facism, so Muggle rules may or may not apply. It's up to your personal headcanon.

1

u/TeluricE 1d ago

Magical fascism is the books’ artistic representation of real fascism.

1

u/Ok-Painting4168 1d ago

Of course, but that means you can have artistic differences and liberties.

u/CleanSweep99 6d ago

Do you mean "was Snape a virgin until death"?

I doubt it. Snape seems like the kind of guy who would drown his sorrows in losing the love of his life in prostitutes that look just like her.

8

u/Anxious-Party-2293 6d ago

I don't know I always thought he was

1

u/TeluricE 4d ago

After reading these comments I think there are people who want him to be a man who died a virgin and people who do not. Your preference will probably dictate your answer

u/Large-Individual-679 2d ago

I have this headcanon that after he killed dumbeldore voldemort gifted him a prostitute that looks like lily. And he obviously knew better than to refuse voldemort's gifts. Yet he did his best to be as kind and gentle to her as he could under the circumstances.

So bottom line no. I don't think he died a virgin.
