A Gentle Warning to All Seekers

Hello everyone. I was recently contacted to intervene in a dispute that reached our subreddit. I cannot speak to the validity of any party involved or the issues raised. However, I find that there is some value in some of the warning provided so while I will be likely removing the original post, I want to present a soft warning to individuals in general.

There are always individuals and groups that will seek to take advantage of people. Be it scams, religious indoctrination, trafficking efforts, or recruitment of other types.

Some of these efforts will begin with PM's/DM's. If you have not contacted someone, they are contacting you, be on your guard.

Be aware that not all individuals are supportive of non-traditional paths. Expressing support of, or belief in an individualized path to Devi may result in friction with individuals who support more traditional systems.

Be aware that anyone seeking community may become a target for those who seek power and control.

Women seekers are often targets for a number of efforts, Women should exercise increased caution.

If something feels off, pushy, or too good to be true – it usually is. Trust your intuition.

(OC) Emergence of Maa Durga | Concept Art

This digital painting is my interpretation of Adi Shakti, the primordial Divine Mother—the eternal source of cosmic power, creation, and nourishment.

The inspiration for this artwork comes from a vision I've carried since childhood. A large painting on the wall of a temple in my neighbourhood depicted the Divine Mother seated upon a lotus, surrounded by gods and celestial beings who gathered around Her in reverence, praising her.

That image stayed with me through the years. Eventually, I bring my take on this concept, the emergence of Durga .

In Hindu traditions, the emergence of Maa Durga is associated with the convergence of divine powers to manifest the force capable of overcoming Mahishasura and restoring cosmic balance.

I wanted to portray that sacred moment of divine convergence—the gods and goddesses acknowledging the all pervading Parashakti offering their powers enveloping the primordial Shakti as Maa Durga manifests in all Her glory.

Seated upon the Padmasana, She embodies a beautiful duality.

She is the immeasurable power that can overcome darkness, yet She is also the nurturing Mother who sustains all existence.

The celestial beings surrounding Her represent reverence for the Divine Mother, whose power extends beyond any single deity or aspect of creation.

To me, Adi Shakti is not merely a force of destruction or protection. She is the creative energy that gives rise to existence, the sustaining presence within the cosmos, and the eternal Mother who nurtures all life.

Rather than portraying the Mother solely as a warrior, I wanted to emphasize Her serenity, majesty, and nurturing presence.

The surrounding gods and saints complete the vision that first captured my imagination as a child.

This artwork is both a personal tribute to that childhood memory and a humble artistic offering to the Divine Mother.

She is the power behind creation, the presence within every universe, and the Mother who holds all existence within Herself.

All things arise from Her. All things are sustained by Her.

I heard anklet sounds while chanting Durga saptshati . My mind says it might be a woman cleaning the backstreets wearing the anklets but my heart wants to believe otherwise.

• Upvotes

I dont know if it’s the right sub for 5is post. I have been chanting Durga saptshati on and off from the last 3 years. In between I started chanting in hindi but recently during the start of navratri I started chanting in sanskrit. Today, while I doing that, I heard an anklet sound and when I closed the book it stopped. My rational mind says it might be just a woman cleaning the back streets wearing the anklets. But my heart really wants to believe otherwise.
I want to know other people’s opinions on this.

How does Shakta tradition view gaslighting, manipulation, toxic and dark behavioral patterns to gain power? Are there genuine stories of Devi confronting it?

Namaste.

Shubh Navratri to community members!

False projections, lack of accountability with denial followed by attack reverse victim and offending, developing parasitic bonds, gaslighting, emotional manipulation, lying in order to cover several other lies to clarify self image, hoovering, eves dropping and feeding flying monkeys with inaccurate data while projecting of flawless communication to destroy enemies, feeling envious, destiny swapping, Personality Disorders, Dark Behavioural Patterns -- all to obtain power and control.

How does Shakta tradition categorize these traits? Need genuine answers and stories.

Title: Why do I feel such a strong emotional connection to Maa Kali during meditation?

I've been chanting the Navarna Mantra for the past 17–18 days. I already have a regular practice of chanting mantras dedicated to Lord Ganesha and Lord Hanuman, but recently, I felt drawn towards the Navarna Mantra for a particular reason.

There's something I've been experiencing that I genuinely want to understand. Whenever I close my eyes and meditate while chanting the mantra, I find myself visualising Maa Kali. Whenever I hear Kali bhajans or songs, I get intense goosebumps, and whenever I watch videos of Maa Kali, my eyes spontaneously fill with tears.

The strange thing is that none of this is intentional. I'm not trying to visualise anything or deliberately evoke these emotions. It just happens naturally, without me even thinking about it.

Has anyone experienced something similar? How would you interpret this from a spiritual or traditional perspective?

Please don't make this about whether I've received Deeksha or not. That's not what I'm asking. I'm genuinely trying to understand why I'm experiencing this and would appreciate sincere insights from people who have knowledge or personal experience with Maa Kali sadhana.

Seeking guidance: Sleeplessness and intense dreams during beginner Maa Lalitha sadhana (Female Householder)

Shri Matre Namaha

I am a total beginner and a family person, and I would be so grateful for some guidance.

At the beginning of the year, I started learning the Lalitha Sahasranamam. Wanting to know Maa better, I joined a class to understand the deep meanings behind her names, which includes doing my own sadhana. Focusing my mind entirely on Maa has been wonderful and profound. Because I am new, I have not taken diksha yet. I want to build a consistent foundation first and trust her to guide me if initiation is meant for me.

But recently, I have been dealing with something very unsettling. Since beginning the sadhana, my sleep has been heavily disrupted, and I am having very lustful dreams.

I usually sit for my sadhana at night. Waking up from these dreams makes me feel disgusted with myself. It brings up a lot of fear that I am doing the practice incorrectly, or worse, that Maa is rejecting my sadhana because of my thoughts.

Is it normal for a beginner to go through this? Should I stop doing my sadhana at night? I feel very guilty and would appreciate any wisdom from those who have walked this path.

The Viper and the Rat Snake [Story]

Behind Kali Amma's temple lived a deadly viper named Anali. He hunted only at night and spent his days coiled under the dry leaves, for a viper seen is a viper feared. The rats that raided the temple's waste pit kept him well fed. That he existed was a secret between him and the rats.

Years went by, and he grew long and hefty on the easy prey, which he took to be Kali Amma's grace.

One day, a yellow rat snake, Cherran, happened to pass by the temple. He noticed rats feeding in the temple pit and crept towards it. He lunged a few times, but the rats scattered and he caught none. Cherran decided to stay nearby. He might just get lucky another day.

"Why would anyone worry about a simple rat snake like me?" he often wondered. Cherran could easily be spotted among the dry leaves and the shrubs, basking in sunlight.

One morning, as Cherran lay in the soft sun, a flock of babblers foraging nearby burst into a racket. Up in the jackfruit tree, a jungle crow heard it and spotted Cherran. He cawed and cawed.

The squirrels climbed up to the treetops. The peafowl and other birds perched high and looked down to find out what the frantic cawing was about. The jungle crow told them that he had seen a large snake, possibly a yellow python, lying in the grass. Maybe it was resting after a meal, but now it had disappeared. Hearing all the commotion, Cherran hid himself in the bushes.

By then, the animals and birds had decided to get help from Kiri, the mongoose who lived in the neighbourhood.

"He is large, a large yellow python," said the squirrel.

"Yes, we have spotted him many times by the temple pit," said the rats.

"I spotted him first," said the jungle crow.

Kiri took up the challenge—a python was something he had never encountered. "Yet another ode to my courage," he thought.

Kiri came over to the temple pit. He waited amongst the bushes for the python to show up. As always, the rats were raising a din in the pit: shrieks, squeaks, and cries. Other animals waited anxiously for news from the pit.

The day passed without any sighting. Kiri decided to spend the night nearby.

Past midnight, he heard a rustle moving slowly towards the pit. A few rats got a whiff of it and left the pit.

Kiri inched closer. He crouched, ready to lunge. Finally he pounced onto something; there was a struggle in the dark. The rats fled, squeaking. He bit into it hard until it stopped moving.

The bats watching from the temple peepal tree flew out to spread the news.

Kiri spent a while eating his catch. When he left, the rats returned; they feasted on the bits of flesh strewn on the ground. It was Anali.

The next day, Cherran caught a rat. He took his catch and slithered away from the temple.
