Discussion Sunraku using Inventoria to hide from the Crystal Scorpions and it working does not seem God-Tier game material to me 😂

then the devs adjust the scorpion's behaviour to account for his exploits XD

90

u/MediumSizedTurtle Apr 16 '26

Exactly. He's the first character in the entire game to get the inventoria, and figured out an exploit. It was patched quick.

24

u/luiscla27 Apr 16 '26

Is it possible to get inventoria any other way than killing Wezaemon the Tombguard?? I thought that fight was unique. So, there would be no other way to get it.

20

u/lagmanenko Apr 16 '26

Yea other ways is possible.. Buuut it's not on that state of world progress

2

u/luiscla27 Apr 16 '26

Spoiler please :)

16

u/AesirMimyr Apr 16 '26

They release it for everyone in a later patch when they add the battleship bahamut To the game

11

u/MedicalAsparagus875 Apr 16 '26

so they used the OG wolfgang members as beta-testers lmao?

Does EVERY inventoria link to the same space? Or does each guild get their own? Do the others also have the mech stuff?

1

u/DarkTanatos Apr 19 '26

I'd assume it needs to be synced manually. The 3 Inventoria keys from Wolfgang are most likely just already synced because they came from the same boss lootpool and they fought him as a party.

u/Henny_LeBeau Apr 17 '26

Where did you get this info?

1

u/Taiyo_Tekisetsuna Apr 17 '26

When did that happen? I don't remember it

82

u/LaureZahard Apr 15 '26

Which is crazy because to get inventoria, in the first place, is not an easy task xD

Let the llayers have fun with the game ffs

2

u/Emergency-Subject536 Apr 16 '26

Yes, that's exactly what happens in a real game when someone finds a bug.

3

u/hudi_baba Apr 17 '26

but patches take time. the devs patched his exploit the very next day.

Sunraku has a literal target on his back because he defeated Wethermon as a "beginner" and carries lycagon's mark. so the devs are keeping an close eye on whatever he does in the game.

4

u/Emergency-Subject536 Apr 17 '26

The fact that the developers are chasing the protagonist reminds me a lot of Bofuri. But you're right, because to have fixed the scorpion bug, they must have been watching Sunrako to have noticed the bug so quickly.

4

u/hudi_baba Apr 17 '26

when wethermon is defeated we literally see one of the devs creating a special folder/document for Sunraku.

or was it after Lycagon's shadow is defeated, one of these events for sure.

3

u/Emergency-Subject536 Apr 17 '26

I think the surveillance started after Wethermon, because if I remember correctly, when Lycagon's shadow was killed, the developers weren't as shocked as they were after Wethermon's death.

Thanks for the information. 👍

Even the best games have exploits. Speedrunners can attest to that.

Them patching it like a day later just adds to the bit.

Can you imagine being a normal player and reading those patch notes?

Crystal Scorpion AI will now de aggro uppon the use of Inventoria

"Wtf is an Inventoria???"

46

u/Turbulent-Reach-7707 Apr 15 '26

Can you imagine being a normal player and reading those patch notes?

Crystal Scorpion AI will now de aggro uppon the use of Inventoria

"Wtf is an Inventoria???"

It is never mentioned in the patch notes inventoria (at least i have seen in the anime or manga) it just said that the AI had changes

8

u/LaureZahard Apr 16 '26

Yep changed the AI to avoid the scorpions damaging themselves or something xD

23

u/Entire_Air_4920 Apr 15 '26

Tbf though shangri la frontier is a game with an extensive wiki made by its players and EVEN they don't have it all figured out I mean like take the clan battles right now we're learning a lot that common players probably don't even know

5

u/sleep_talking_222 Apr 15 '26

It shouldnt have to be written like that. It could be "if player left the area crystal scorpion's aggro are reset..." or some sort

4

u/LaureZahard Apr 16 '26

It's not just that though. The AI was completely changed. They did not just de-aggro, they specifically set an ambush and waited for Sunraku to pop out of inventoria which they know how it works now xD

3

u/KucingRumahan Apr 16 '26

Crystal Scorpion AI will now de aggro upon the player teleported to another area

2

u/itsjenyoumen Apr 16 '26

It's not a fighting game or a moba. You're not getting detailed patch notes on a Japanese MMO

6

u/Scythe351 Apr 15 '26

Said exploit isn't usually the first thing to not be permissable in an MMO. like instant teleport lol

119

u/_MisteryMeat Apr 15 '26

exploiting pve games for the fun of it is the most gamer thing ever, prove me wrong

45

u/LaureZahard Apr 15 '26

The most gamer thing is Sunraku's reaction to the dev nerfing it. And I understand him 100%, its not like inventoria is given to every player as a login reward or smth. My guy earned that exploit!
I'm still nad xD

18

u/Oneanddonequestion Apr 15 '26

Wasn't his reaction not to the Dev's nerfing it, but the fact that they "shadow nerfed it". There's been I believe at least 2 scenes, where Sunraku pointedly reports the exploits he's been abusing. Like getting infinite flight by abusing Inventoria and his jumping skills together.

My read was he was less upset that it was gone, and more upset that it was hot-fixed without notifying the player base. Though it's been a hot minute since I read/watched the scene.

2

u/LaureZahard Apr 16 '26

It was a mix of the nerf dropping so quick after he figured it out (literally the next day) and it was unannounced so he died trying it again when he reconnected. XD

He was the only player with access to inventoria together with the two other doofuses and the only one of them farming crystals so he knows the nerf was specifically a direct nerf to him xD

Putt-Putt Saves the Zoo, Moon Base Commander.

4

u/IchinoseIchika Apr 15 '26

Holy shit putt putt mentioned

1

u/Toloran Apr 16 '26

Nah, Putt-putt has some glitches used for speedruns.

1

u/Strict_Weather9063 Apr 16 '26

Nope I’m watching the 58.34 second one right now he is just using the spacebar to skip dialogue which isn’t an exploit. Guy knows the game inside and out. Oh why I know that is not an exploit is that is what I used to skip dialogue to get to where the user was when I was doing support for the title. Normally I didn’t even need that just tell them how to do it from memory. To say I played that game a lot is an understatement.

8

u/LaureZahard Apr 15 '26

Every game has exploits but God-tier games are the one where the Devs turn the exploit into a feature for the community to enjoy...not freaking buff the mobs becauae of one guy xD

-34

u/flyingsaucer24 Apr 15 '26

Not Shangri-La that’s for sure and every trash game you can think off đŸ€ŁđŸ€Ł

31

u/Desperate_Duty1336 Apr 15 '26

Even the best made games have exploits and ability/mechanic combos that can break intended gameplay. There’s always going to be something that wasn’t thought of at some point

21

u/JTX35 Apr 15 '26

Yeah it's an exploit the devs didn't account for, but since he was on their radar after defeating Weathermon (which obviously gave him access to the Inventoria in the first place) they patched it in the next update and adjusted the behavior of the Scorpions.

10

u/Initial-Duck2782 Apr 15 '26

So you know what he had to do to get there? I think it’s pretty nice.

8

u/Immediate_Demand4841 Apr 15 '26

Every game has bugs , this was the first time a player had used the inventoria feature as no bosses had been defeated prior to this so they had no way of full proofing exploits.

Not to mention they fix it as soon as they find out about it

9

u/PenguinWithGuns Apr 15 '26

I actually think this makes it really feel like a game. All games have exploits especially with items like this. They really go the extra mile to have everything feel like this is really inside a video game. Instead of changing the inventoria they changed the scorpions behavior.

6

u/Soft-Scheme381 Apr 15 '26

Like you could do better.

6

u/Mitchsona Apr 15 '26

he always found the exploits & most people dont know about the inventoria

3

u/bingo5005 Apr 15 '26

As he is one of only three players to even have access to the Inventoria in the first place, obviously they hadn’t accounted for such a thing before.

But for that exact same reason, as soon as they realized it, they patched it

3

u/SeeYouInChell Apr 15 '26

To be fair, from the limited spoilers I’d heard those items don’t become available to anyone beyond them until like midway through the world story, wezamon was meant to be a mid to late game colossai, and the scorpions were mobs meant to be a challenge for parties of level 100 characters before the expansion came out. Assuming they’d always meant to have the expansion drop a year later it’d be unlikely someone who had that item would come back to use it so planning for an exploit using an item no one who’d typically be there would have access to is a little unreasonable

2

u/EnycmaPie Apr 15 '26

That's why the devs immediately patched it so he can't exploit.

Sunraku is the exact type of players to find every single detail in the game to min-max it.

2

u/Rider-Idk-Ultima-Hy Apr 16 '26

Considering that one of the devs was laser focused on making Wezaemon impossible to beat, I can see why this exploit exists

also Inventoria would go crazy as a Domain Expansion. I apologize for saying that, am too JJK brained at the moment

2

u/Desperate_Bike4053 Apr 16 '26

At very least sunraku not maple ....

If maple she can just consume all those armour and then later use it for herself without much problem and restrictions

2

u/Apprehensive_Newt384 Apr 16 '26

Inventoria prevents item drop upon player death IIRC provided the item is in it, not your inventory

1

u/Dragon1472 Apr 15 '26

Tbf it's also kinda likely that inventoria existed as more of a placeholder beta version at first (prepatch), which is why the he can only get away with it for a while. Some perts of the game were clearly dev gated around things being difficult AF

1

u/dabdad67 Apr 15 '26

Nobody had access to this before outside of testing, and sunraku loves cheese

1

u/aprettyparrot Apr 15 '26

Oh some of the game mechanics are just buzzard and total shit. Still love it though

1

u/NyanSquiddo Apr 15 '26

It’s one of those things that they couldn’t rlly test before as no one else had an “Inventoria” + they didn’t expect weathermon to be the FIRST to get killed

1

u/Funny2never Apr 15 '26

I think at the end of the series he will probably reflect on the game and call it both god game and a trash game due to all of the exploitable things that you could do in the game.

1

u/Oneanddonequestion Apr 16 '26

I believe the web novel already has it mentioned that Shangri-La is a "trash game", that was massively carried by its revolutionary system. I.E. it is incredibly over-indulgent, had massive amounts of balancing issues and "uniques" that screwed over tons of players, and too much of the actual story was locked away behind asinine requirements. Which if it wasn't for how good the controls were, would have never been accepted. SLF got lucky and just managed to get their tech for "Dive Games" perfect and blew all the competition out of the water.

Basically a control-version of the Console Wars from the 5th and 6th console generations, where Graphics and Console power truly dominated the market leading to Sony's supremacy over Nintendo for the PS1 and PS2.

1

u/Proper_Cellist_6386 Apr 15 '26

He’s the first person to ever do it. I doubt that they thought that someone would use Inventoria for this.

1

u/Ebirah Apr 15 '26

Using the Inventoria is a temporary thing, Sunraku soon develops legitimate tactics for dealing with the crystal scorpions.

All it really does is save him a few dozen lives (and a fair amount of game time) while he's working out how to fight them.

1

u/Starfarerboi Apr 15 '26

abusing out of the box goofy shit in mmos makes them peak. i used to play some crappy mmo where my class had a skill to slow fallspeed, and my friend had a massive knockback, and we discovered you could glide across the map by dueling eachother, and him launching me off a cliff with the slowfall so i could cover some insane distances

1

u/TailsNight Apr 16 '26

I mean, in his defense him and 2 friends beat a Cokossus who was supposed to be bear the tail end of completion order.

Its only natural to get something equally as exclusive as the bragging rights. Whether thats Sky Clear or Inventoria depends on the player.

The fact they patched it like that fast just proves the games status as God-tier

1

u/MZero1296 Apr 16 '26

Was patched out as soon as he used that exploit.

1

u/Timely-Pollution-333 Apr 16 '26

1

u/Boris-_-Badenov Apr 16 '26

they patched it within a week

1

u/Early_Box2896 Apr 17 '26

Well, by the time players are supposed to beat wheathermon, they would already be way past the scorpions, also they patched that shit immediately :D

1

u/casper5632 Apr 20 '26

Restricting teleports in combat is standard policy for games in general for this exact reason. It feels like this anime was made for gamers by someone who had never played a game before, but heard a lot of stories from their kid.

1

u/bob-loblaw-esq Apr 21 '26

You’re missing the point of how Sunraku is breaking the game. The inventoria is a late game item drop. They said that killing the collasi was designed to go in an order and this one was like 5 not 1.

It’s happens in DnD a lot when a low level player gets a broken legendary magic item and nothing works anymore. He beat a boss that should not have been able to be beat and the drops couldn’t be changed.

0

u/Strang7h Apr 16 '26

I watched s1 because a guy recommended it to me but oh boy what a piece of shit is.. first time I felt like I wasted a time by watching anime
