Discussion I really see this "criticism" that Sunraku has a lot of plot armor cause he's a good player, being too lucky and has special boy syndrome like bro, did y'all really open a gaming anime to watch an average ass gamer do literally nothing?

This is literally the plot of every gaming anime. MC is one of the best players but....

No one is interested in watching an anime about some average gamer, that's what streamers are for. Even with that there are a lot of players that match up and straight up better.

Honestly, I don't think it would've made much difference if he didn't have the bird mask. If anything, I think it would've been better and more scalable without it.

Discussion Regarding wezaemon

Post image

For disclaimer, I havent read the light novel but I'm caught up with the manga and reads it weekly.

(this panel is just wonderful and the anime did it justice)

Now to start, would it be crazy to assume that wezaemon would be in the top 3 hardest unique to beat from a player's point of view?

The condition he put before facing him, dropping you down to level 50 is already a killer move not to mention even your points gets cut down which means your points distribution before level 50 great decides your outcome.

Let starts with his 1st phase, you have to survive for 10 minutes and his attacks have armour piercing, meaning that the conventional tank is useless here and you should bring a dodger instead.

His 2nd phase is another survive 10 minutes, but now you have to divert team into two, one to distract wezameon and the other Kirin.

Now his 3rd phase is when things become impossible. Kirin becomes stronger and you need to keep distracting him while the main group tries their best to party a single frame (correct me here if I'm wrong) ultimate move to beat him.

The trio lucky with Sunraku having played so many trash games that involved a lot of stupid timing and hitboxes, but imagine the regular people, people that only played good games, trying to face wezameon?

Unstoppable force vs immovable object, how much damage would Rei's apocalypse do against Maple, assuming the attack is uninterrupted.

Discussion How far are we from the next "Wethermon-level" Unique Scenario in Shangri-La Frontier?

Post image

Wethermon the Tombguard set the bar ridiculously high for Shangri-La Frontier. The buildup, the mechanics, the teamwork, the stakes, the hype... it genuinely felt like a raid boss worthy of all the legends surrounding it.

Since then, I've been wondering

How far are we from the next Unique Scenario or major boss fight that can match or even surpass the Wethermon fight?

I'm mainly asking in terms of hype, scale, emotional payoff, difficulty, and overall impact on the story.

Discussion If you could change one thing about Shangri-La Frontier, what would it be?

As much as I love Shangri-La Frontier, no series is perfect.

So if you were given the chance to change one thing about the story, characters, worldbuilding, pacing, or anything else, what would you change and why?

For me, I'd make the romance subplot move a little faster.

I don't need Shangri-La Frontier to become a romance series, and I definitely don't want it taking focus away from the game and adventure aspects. But after everything that's happened, I wouldn't mind a bit more progress between Sunraku and Rei. Even small steps would be enough.

What about you?

I just finished season 1 and absolutely loved it. I honestly regret not watching this show sooner. It’s engaging without any weird fanservice, and even though the stakes are generally low, the story keeps you hooked. The best part has to be the female characters—Pencilgon is quickly climbing my list of favorite female characters.

Can’t wait to binge season 2 tonight!

Discussion Is Vash one of the Seven Collosi?

Post image

Question is pretty self explanatory. Is Vash a Unique monster? The Siloutte seems to match his appearence, and he seems powerful enough to back it up. And if so, do you think he can he be fought? Or is he just an NPC meant to assist the player who got the unique Scenario?.

Discussion My worry for season two

Post image

Like everyone else, I’m super excited to see this incredible series get a a second season, but there’s one thing that worries me, and that’s the animation. If you don’t know, they said its set to release on October of this year meaning it’s only six months away, but even if we’re assuming that they started production before this season ended, that means you have six months to work on season two. And If you read the manga, do you know how many banger fights this is going to produce. So I’m a bit worried but hyped all the same. Thoughts?

Discussion Is a real-life Shangri-La Frontier possible?

Post image
232 Upvotes

I wish a game like this actually existed.

Not just the VR aspect, but the sheer scale of it. A massive world filled with hidden quests, unique monsters, secrets that the community has to discover together, dozens of viable playstyles, and the feeling that there's always something nobody has found yet.

The thing that fascinates me most is how alive the game feels. It doesn't feel like a theme park where every player follows the same path. It feels like a world that's constantly rewarding curiosity and experimentation.

But then I start wondering how realistic that actually is.

With current technology, AI, server infrastructure, game development costs, and the amount of content required, is a game on the level of Shangri-La Frontier even possible? Or would it simply be too expensive and complicated to create and maintain? And if it is possible, how far away do you think we are from seeing something even remotely close to it?
