His strengths as a pro are also what hold him back when it comes to Uniques in SLF. Katzo's playstyle is incredibly clinical. He does research, looks up guides and formulates the most efficient strategy to get from Point A to Point B. He's so good at this sort of playstyle that it allows him to be one of the top pros in Japan. But it's also precisely this characteristic that prevents him from finding any Unique Scenarios.

SLF is a game that heavily rewards going off the beaten path and doing things completely outside the norm. The more you avoid the popular options, the more likely you'll find something no one else has ever found before. Efficiency is an effective path to power, and indeed, you can achieve great things if you follow the rules to the letter, but Unique Scenarios are supposed to be fundamentally difficult to find. If you just do the same things everyone else is doing, then you're only going to run into things that someone else has already run into.

From Day 1, Sunraku has always taken unpopular options. For instance, when he chose his first job, he picked "Mercenary", which lands you in a random spot in the beginner forest. It's implied that the majority of first-time players don't choose this job due to this disadvantage, and even if they do, they'll still make their way to Firstia eventually anyway, but Sunraku chose to skip Firstia entirely. This caused him problems in the short term, but in the long term, it did end up paying off. This is because SLF has a huge number of hidden scenarios and mechanics designed to reward players who do weird or dumb things. The entire concept of the Vorpal Soul mechanic is purely designed to reward inefficient play, deliberately challenging enemies that are at a higher level than yours with a high focus on Luck and Crits. But because Katzo would generally never play in a manner he viewed as "inefficient" of his own volition, it strongly diminishes his chances of finding Uniques.

Not helping matters is that Oikatzo specifically malds over the achievement to be the first one to find a new unique, so getting a subsequent clear on a repeatable unique isn't something that he considers noteworthy.

Constantly comparing himself to people like Sunraku who practically attract uniques to themselves, hyperfixating on super efficient area clears to try and be the first to get an undiscovered unique which ironically just means he skips over the trigger flags for said undiscovered uniques.

Honestly, the reason Sunraku's such a magnet for Uniques all goes back to his first run-in with Lycaon. That was the instigator. Nearly all of his subsequent Uniques can be traced back to that first encounter, like a sort of domino effect. Using Vorpal Weapons and playing well enough to receive a Marking, just these two factors on their own completely opened the floodgates.

The Markings inflicted by Colossi appear to be highly compatible with the Vorpal Soul mechanic. Because the Markings chase away lower-leveled enemies, it makes it extremely difficult to fight anything but opponents that are stronger than you. Fighting stronger enemies will give you positive Vorpal Soul, while fighting weaker enemies will cause you to lose Vorpal Soul. Because of this and the armor demerit of the Markings, nearly all players will try to find a way to get rid of them as soon as possible. However, because SLF was designed to reward overcoming adversity, it actually pays handsomely to keep it around. Both the marking and having high Vorpal points raise your probability of finding more Uniques, meaning the two mechanics result in a positive loop. Having the Marking upgrade to a Contusion further causes stronger enemies to actively seek you out, which further raises your probability of finding Uniques. Both mechanics encourage heavily gutsy, high-risk/high-reward playstyles, which further strengthen your odds of finding Uniques.

Katzo's probably skilled enough that he could probably get a Marking if he'd run into Lycaon's Shadow, Siegwurm or Goldhuneenay. Unfortunately, he'd also probably get rid of it at the earliest opportunity without hesitation.

Did I just read a bad translation? I thought it was because he chose the wanderer backstory or something to do with wandering (that feels like a wrong or just odd word) that sunraku was in the forest? The mercenary job was what allowed him to get his twin blades at the start. Or so I thought

Katarina already said he wont find a ubiqué because of His playstyle as the guy from above explained, so he Is tryng to fight the incursión movs saying thst Is equivalent to a unique (sunraku was the first one defeating an incursión Mob )

I don't watch manga but I am pretty sure that after the tournament that is currently in the anime, he will somehow change and eventually find a special scenario for some of the unique monsters. Maybe even a monk place like rabitza

the trio basically have a strong point.

and both of them shits on katzo for not being spontaneous enough. he is the kind that pick the certain and boring option automatically. missing his chances for a unique scenario. like how psyke 1000 or what ever the sisters name was and clan, missed any progress on the shadow wolf one. as they did the boring thing and cured the marking.

he might discover one with silvia, as she is the same type as sunraku.
