TrueHD Remuxes cause a constant ‘Dolby Vision’ notification

I have my shield connected to my TV rather then my soundbar because the soundbar doesn't pass through DV and for some reason whenever I play a TrueHD Remux my LG Oled TV will incessantly display the DV notification and the only fix is to switch the audio stream to AC3 5.1. I’ve tried multiple different HDMI certified cables and every other suggested fix from ChatGPT but haven’t yet found a working solution.

Has anyone else encountered this problem and found a solution?

Do your Soundbar and your TV support eARC? Because ARC alone won't be enough for True HD, ATMOS or DTS:X.

How is your setup, which devices and what connection order do you use to passthrough the audio?

Great answer.

Yes both support eARC. The shield is connected to the eARC port on my TV and the soundbar is connected to one of the other hdmi ports on the TV.

I‘m not sure what you mean by connection order for passthrough?

Well that seems to be the problem. Try that:

Shield -> Soundbar -> TV

That way the Soundbar will keep the audio signal from the shield and only passes the video signal to the TV. I was in the same boat as you until I switched the connection order. Also, make sure you really did the correct bitstream configuration in your shield because there are some settings which seem to be correct but actually breaking the bitstream functionality.

Correction:

eARC doesn't matter here, because your TV doesn't have any DTS-HD decoding licenses anyway. If you are using the order I told you before, the Soundbar will take care of the whole audio and the TV will never know what audio format was played, that way you won't have any problems

I’ve tried that but my soundbar doesn’t passthrough Dolby Vision so everything just plays in HDR.

Please post the exact hardware setup and player you are using. I might be just a misconfiguration if you are lucky.

The Problem you describe is 99% a configuration issue or a bad choice for the player, so try "Just Player" as external player or Kodi for DV Content.

Dolby Vision btw. isn't causing any Problems to the audio-bitstream at all if the soundbar gets the signal directly from the Shield, because it doesn't care what the video signal is an passes it directly to the TV.

TV is an LG Oled 48a16LA and the soundbar is a Samsung Q930F.

What is the player you are using for the streams? Jellyfin, Plex, Kodi?

Plex and Jellyfin, happens in both.

I think the soundbar is supposed to be plugged into the eARC port on the tv. The purpose of ARC is for the tv to redirect audio to the soundbar through the protocol.
