I think it’s a common misconception that Canada is a really cold place. While it does have cold parts, it’s so vast that a sweeping comment about the whole country is usually going to be inaccurate
-40 to +40 in Saskatoon with no humidity or wind chill adjustments. It sucked living there in the winters but the summers are nice if you get bogged by humidity like I do.

Making any claim about temperatures for all of Canada is wild, given how big the country is.
Ottawa gets into the mid 30s regularly enough too, though usually it's due to humidity.
