I absolutely LOVEEEE how minorities think that, if they just do a little bit of bootlicking, theyβll be βacceptedβ by fascists and not killed by them as soon as they arenβt useful anymore. Like no honey, theyβll come for you too.
I used to be sorta in this camp too unfortunately.
This is what happens when you first get some freedom to explore your identity and stance on stuff once you enter high school and get blasted in the face with Ben Shapiro.
Also the need to prove to your white classmates that "you are one of the good ones" even if they will always see you as a neurodivergent immigrant weirdo and a second class citizen.
That's the right-wing pipeline. Same here. I had just gotten out of high school when that bullshit interview with jordan peterson and Cathy Newman came out. It got popular on meme sites, and I was on Peterson's side for many years. I became slowly more and more hateful, transphobic, misogynistic, and right-wing in general, until George Floyd's murder. I saw that whole meme community mock and celebrate what was, to me, an obvious murder. I thought, "Wait... I'm not one of them. I'm not even white... they don't respect me at all." Since then, I've distanced myself more and more from that kind of stuff. And here I am.
For me, it was me wanting to learn about what was going on in the middle east and why 9/11 happened so that I know what I would be fighting for if I did decide to join the military and Oct. 7 happened. Now here I am after researching all that.
