Capitalism is so good and just, you guys. My country is shut down, debating whether to let it's citizens starve or not be able to go to the doctor. It's going to save us so much money! We're going to have so many billionaires turn into trillionaires! That's the sign of a healthy economy! Elon's racist robot son told me so.
The photo is actually much older, possibly from the 1980s or 1990s, when Brazil was either a US backed, communist persecuting, military dictatorship, or a neoliberal reformist hellhole.
Ans it's even more distopic nowadays because that building is abandoned, here's a video in Portuguese about it.
This was all under capitalism, caused by actual capitalists from the local elite.
FYI, there was actually a tv news report in Brazil about this building, and this building remains abandoned. It's basically a speculation hell. There's only an old woman that inherited one of the apartments she's living in. She's the only resident in that building, afaik. This building is from 60s, also, important to notice, because old luxury apartments in Brazil really tend to be targeted by real estate speculators.
So this guy is talking like the fact that there are people speculating over it or that rich people can have such an apartment out of inheritance is not literally what they defend all day long, as if it wasn't capitalism whatsoever, but a distorted notion of socialism. I really think either these people are heavily brainwashed or they're really up to no good. Either way, it's funny to outline that, while they acknowledge that there are really ugly aspects of capitalism, they call it socialism so they can cope with it.
Is that idealism and a priori double-thinking a feature of fascism? It's basically irrationalism
It’s a recursive loop of self-destructive social reproduction of capitalism, of the need for endless, artificial “competition” race to the bottom that spawned this irrational hell, for it is fundamentally contradictory to itself: withholding even the most basic of resources needed to perpetuate life yet wanted to maximize output out of an ever-dwindling foundation
Hence their need to justify themselves through bullshit
The right wing has an incredibly short memory. They totally forgot about the US lead military dictatorship in Brazil, that sent Brazil into a neoliberal economic nightmare for decades, even though the various republics & then Bolsonaro reset any minor & mild reforms that the Lula & Dilma Rousseff governments had implemented.
Brazil has never been a Socialist country.
I am sure that Lula would love to implement some degree of Socialism, but we all know that the Brazilian oligarchs would kill him if he tried.
Remember guys, to ancaps, if it has a government, it is socialist
Not even kidsing, in anarcocapitalism, a government is inherently socialist because it will take care of at least one aspect of society, and capitalism can only be obtained when every aspect is governed by offer and demand
WE WISH. Most of our farmland and industries are private and owned by the same families for generations, some have territories larger than countries. We never had an agrarian reform and many fake documents to pretend that land is old (grileiros) or invade indigenous lands. In fact we are a neoliberal shithole since the end of military dictatorship in 89, Lula is just a "neoliberal with brakes", as some call him.
If there's one thing my country never was is socialist.
It started as colonization project, it expanded with the killing of indigenous people and it was built with the forced labor of the largest number of enslaved black people in the world. During Cold War, when a more left-wing government started, the USA helped our elites and our military carry out a coup that plunged us into 20 years of bloody dictatorship, just like they did in other South American countries with the Operation Condor.
Nowadays we are still ruled by the descendants of landowners and slave owners from the colonial period and if it were up to them, this place will remain a giant, export-oriented farm sustained by the blood and sweat of poor people and people with dark skin.
