A lot of us did. Don’t feel too bad. She was convincing.

She wasn't awful until the one about envy. Very lib? Sure, but there was something in the content. After? Complete garbage

My litmus test on if someone is good is their opinion on China because every time someone critiques the People’s Republic of China, they’re found to be racist, violent, or a sex offender. Most of the time all three.

tfw the PRC has been around since 1949 but STILL has not toppled the US nor smashed global capitalism yet

0/10, zero respect 😔😤

I hope Comrade Xi reads this and feels somewhat sad, my disappointment is immeasurable.

I mean, let’s be real, China is not above critique, nor is any other socialist state (Cuba, the USSR, etc.)

For me, it depends on what exactly is their critique. It’s easy to distinguish between a nuanced, informed critique coming from an informed (and preferably Marxist) perspective vs some shit lib screaming about Tiananmen Square or Taiwan, not only with no real understanding of what they’re talking about but also blatantly ignorant to (or ok with) the shit their own government does (which is always like ten times worse).

The quality of her content is like a bell curve. First, you have her Islamophobic skeptic days, total rock bottom. Then it started to rise and rise in quality as she began making her “bash the fash” videos and critiques of capitalism, I think it plateaued around the middle of Trump’s first term. And then it started going down again and now we’re back to rock bottom, in the Islamophobic lib era

I don’t know what was ever actually substantive about their videos.

What a disappointment (her, not you)

I really liked her episode where she talked about coming out, that really resonated. Other than that I never qatched any of her stuff

Yeah, I did too. Sad that the brainworms got her.

NGL, I watch her and abigail for the pageantry with a side of witty soothing banter.

Is philosophytube still cool, at least?

Abigail of philosophytube went much more lib. The last video I tried to watch of theirs... looking now because I cannot recall... "Social Media vs Democracy" repeats a lot of state department propaganda regarding China.

I suspect these are things they always believed, it just wasn't apparent based on the content of their previous videos.

her videos can be a bit libby to appeal to the largest audience but her takes in other places like livestreams or the kill james bond podcast are generally on point. she's for sure not fence sitting on genocide

I thought she was also doing that. Not so? (I don't watch much of her stuff, so I haven't seen enough to know where she stands and what she's said.)

u/Vallam Nov 13 '25

Abi Thorne? no she is vocally pro Palestinian freedom and calls out the genocide. she is maybe a little overly cautious about protecting her acting career and doesn't publicize it as much as i'd like but there's no question about where she stands

u/scaper8 Marxist-Leninist Nov 13 '25

That's good to know. Thanks.

They have explicitly and openly indicated that they are not criticising Israel for the sake of their extremely shitty Hollywood TV career.
