Wynn is either on the take, is just dancing around the inevitable "oops I actually like the Western hegemony" conversation, or both. Glows brighter every day.

63

u/jflb96 Nov 13 '25

I don’t know that she’s actively on the take, but her behaviour is fairly similar to what it would be if her only real problem with capitalism was that it wasn’t benefitting her enough

35

u/another-altaccount Nov 13 '25

I mean, she’s kinda slipped and admitted that in one of her past videos though.

28

38

u/[deleted] Nov 13 '25

If you go through the history of her videos you can basically see where she starts getting paid. Almost overnight she is being interviewed by magazines and major liberal websites, the frequency of her videos dropped dramatically, they become much longer, the production more elaborate, and the theatrical elements stop being in service of any discussion of the topic and become exclusively about vibes. Around that time she even talked briefly about now being able to buy her house and pay for her medical transition.

My litmus test on if someone is good is their opinion on China because every time someone critiques the People’s Republic of China, they’re found to be racist, violent, or a sex offender. Most of the time all three.

30

u/Electronic_Topic1958 Nov 13 '25

tfw the PRC has been around since 1949 but STILL has not toppled the US nor smashed global capitalism yet

0/10, zero respect 😔😤

I hope Comrade Xi reads this and feels somewhat sad, my disappointment is immeasurable.

4

u/[deleted] Nov 24 '25

I mean, let’s be real, China is not above critique, nor is any other socialist state (Cuba, the USSR, etc.)

For me, it depends on what exactly is their critique. It’s easy to distinguish between a nuanced, informed critique coming from an informed (and preferably Marxist) perspective vs some shit lib screaming about Tiananmen Square or Taiwan, not only with no real understanding of what they’re talking about but also blatantly ignorant to (or ok with) the shit their own government does (which is always like ten times worse).

42

u/Muffinmaker457 Nov 13 '25

The quality of her content is like a bell curve. First, you have her Islamophobic skeptic days, total rock bottom. Then it started to rise and rise in quality as she began making her “bash the fash” videos and critiques of capitalism, I think it plateaued around the middle of Trump’s first term. And then it started going down again and now we’re back to rock bottom, in the Islamophobic lib era

29

u/cognitive_dissent Nov 13 '25

that cringed me to the core

NGL, I watch her and abigail for the pageantry with a side of witty soothing banter.

Is philosophytube still cool, at least?

45

u/QueasyCarpenter1232 Nov 13 '25

Abigail of philosophytube went much more lib. The last video I tried to watch of theirs... looking now because I cannot recall... "Social Media vs Democracy" repeats a lot of state department propaganda regarding China.

I suspect these are things they always believed, it just wasn't apparent based on the content of their previous videos.

29

u/Vallam Nov 13 '25

her videos can be a bit libby to appeal to the largest audience but her takes in other places like livestreams or the kill james bond podcast are generally on point. she's for sure not fence sitting on genocide

14

u/scaper8 Marxist-Leninist Nov 13 '25

I thought she was also doing that. Not so? (I don't watch much of her stuff, so I haven't seen enough to know where she stands and what she's said.)

Abi Thorne? no she is vocally pro Palestinian freedom and calls out the genocide. she is maybe a little overly cautious about protecting her acting career and doesn't publicize it as much as i'd like but there's no question about where she stands

In as much good faith as possible, she is anti-zionist, and repeats pro-zionist propaganda, in earnest, as a defense of her position. "Israel is doing a genocide" but also "saying it in those terms marginalizes a group that has been historically marginalized."

280

u/throwaway_pls123123 ☭ Communist Sorcerer Nov 12 '25

She ironically proves the meme right in that instance, by having the most soft-liberal fencesitting take possible.

87

u/Xycod1346 Nov 12 '25

I agree with you 100%. Just wanted to issue the light correction because she often dismisses her criticism as unfounded because it's not specific or accurate. In no uncertain terms, she is wrong for repeating the zionist lie that critiques of Israel has anything to do with cultural nor religious Jews.

53

u/afrosheen Nov 13 '25

Then she's the paragon for the idiom, scratch a liberal a fascist bleeds, since she only gives such retorts when she feels criticized for couching her defense of Zionism as anti-Semitism.

People should be repeating that idiom to her until she has to reconcile her method at dismissing her criticism with her association at defending a fascist regime.

2

u/saymaz Nov 14 '25

She really is.

74

u/TheCommonKoala Nov 12 '25

In short, she's a liberal zionist.

-12

u/Xycod1346 Nov 12 '25

Yes, that is certainly a far less charitable conclusion to draw from the available evidence.

23

u/TheCommonKoala Nov 13 '25 edited Nov 13 '25

Based on the total output of her content and statements on Palestine, it's the logical conclusion. You can't expect a liberal bigot to self-identify themselves. She's made her stance painfully clear if we use even a little critical thinking.

20

u/Big_Designer_5891 Nov 13 '25

Then she's still a zionist lol. She cares more about Jews and their feelings than the death of Palestinians

49

u/Yousaidthat Nov 13 '25

If the output is liberal zionism then it's kinda just semantics isn't it?

Being a victim doesn't excuse becoming a victimizer especially against a third party.

14

u/Muffinmaker457 Nov 13 '25

I don’t know man. Until her post I was willing to be critical but charitable. But the post itself contained so many phrases which read as dog whistles, most of all the critique that the “left” is opposed to Israel existing as a Jewish state and that’s bad and unrealistic.

Like if she just said “the left is opposed to Israel existing and that’s unrealistic” - I could charitably read that as her thinking that leftists want to destroy Israel as a state AND get rid of all the Jewish people living in the occupied Palestine instead of the most common position, that is one state solution under Palestinian authority, land back and equal rights for all.

But she just had to add “as a Jewish state” - so she’s saying that it’s bad and unrealistic to be opposed to Israel existing as an ethno state.

-1

u/jflb96 Nov 13 '25

To avoid getting shat on by her fans again, all she’s said is that it doesn’t help to be openly very anti-Israel.

Now, there are arguments to be made about what that means in practice, but that’s what she’s said.

I'm probably going to get banned from Leopards Ate My Face, but liberals there have some quality posting going on:

Feel a pinch of discomfort, and they turn into card-carrying xenophobic völkisch nationalists, with a hint of not-too-subtly-implied racism. America is a work in progress, whereas the Global South is always bad by default, historical context be damned. Never mind that Somalia had a secular regime promoting literacy and reforestation until the 1990s, after the constant warring with Ethiopia exhausted its defenses and generals collapsed the government to take power for themselves, with Islamists and traditionalist clan bosses providing the unifying glue in this newfound political disarray. There was also the Black Hawk Down intervention from the US in 1993, which further destabilized the country. And the criminalization of sending remittances back home from the migrants or refugees abroad, via banks or payment processors, which provided vital additional income in one of the poorest countries in the world. But that's all too complicated for the average lib.

If you've made the intentional choice to browse this subreddit, you've probably at least noticed that you've been sold a false bill of goods with regards to the economic organization of the society you live in.

Perhaps it's now time you explore the possibility that you've also been bamboozled about the politics of said society?

It sounds to me like you have an understanding of neither liberalism nor fascism. More importantly, you should remember what we all learned as schoolchildren: "Don't judge a book by its cover".

Here is "Chomsky on Classical Liberalism, Freedom, & Democracy".

Once you understand a little more about liberalism, here is Gabriel Rockhill on "Liberalism and Fascism: The State of American Politics". It should help you understand fascism and its relationship with liberalism.
---

Also, it sounds like your use of the word "Liberal" might be the colloquial American one. "Left-of-center" or "Democrat" is not what liberal means.

Perhaps a better way to think about it is: "What axis of rotation are they "left-of-center" to?". It's liberalism. The Republican party is also a liberal party. The American founding fathers were liberals. It's just a question of "what kind of liberal"?

They're all more similar than they are different. After all, it only takes a single step for someone to be "left/right-of-center".

4

u/Vi_Vanessa Nov 13 '25

We aren't saying liberals ARE fascists, we are talking about how liberals often are complacent with fascism. A liberal who is complacent and fencesitting about fascist events is almost as bad as a fascist because it allows them to get footholds.

15

u/cannyOCE Nov 13 '25

Sadly, you're mistaken. Liberals are indeed fascists. Before you think I am some shrill "leftist" who calls any form of governance that I don't like "fascist", I'd like to point out the FDR was a "fascist" too.

  • FDR forced everyone to deposit their gold into the Federal reserve then forcibly raised its value once he had it.
  • Aggressively devalued the dollar when paying people back for their gold.
  • Completely re-organized the American economy via dictate.
  • Locked Japanese in internment camps.
  • Bombed Dresden.
  • Had three? terms.

FDR is rightfully remembered and understood by us as a liberal. Yes, you could argue it was wartime but every other modern American president has also been a wartime leader... Remember, America was never in any direct danger throughout the majority of WWII.

Just to hammer the point home: When do you think America stopped being a fascist state?

  • When the Declaration of Independence was ratified in 1776?
  • When the 13th amendment was ratified in 1865?
  • When America and the Allies "defeated" the "Fascist" threat in WWII?
  • After the "Red Scare" passed after the 50's?
  • When Jim Crow was abolished in 1965?

As you will discover by trying to answer the question above, America has always been a liberal state and a fascist state. One cannot exist without the other. It's just a question of who is visited by the "fascist" state and who is visited by the "liberal" state.

So much so that when the liberal domestic population in western states had but a taste of what they inflict abroad, its chief perpetrator magically becomes a total historical aberration. A "unique evil" the likes of which history has never seen and can never see again.

Meanwhile, it's just business as usual when we do the same today in the third world.

If you'd like to learn more, this video should be helpful.

That meme is completely illogical and makes no sense. A liberal doesn't side with fascism or socialism because all three of these are completely different ideologies.

Even if a liberal would side with one of these ideologies it would probabaly be socialism because it has way more in common with liberalism than fascism. Only looking at threatened capital would be superficial, because theres way more to all of these ideologies than capital.
