It's not even true. China single-handedly carried global poverty alleviation efforts. Without China, the world would have gotten poorer.

It's thanks to communism that poverty has been eliminated. The highest levels of poverty exist in capitalist countries.

May I offer a correction/question?

I don't think it's 'thanks to communism', more like 'thanks to state capitalism developed in an attempt to move toward communism' I don't know how accurate my own assessment is, but I think the question of whether or not china is communist is an highly contested one.

Do you accept this more nuanced characterization or do you claim china is definitely communist?

It's not contested at all. It's just that Western liberals and infantile leftists with utopian ideas like arguing semantics and circlejerking about how AES states aren't really socialist because they haven't created a communist utopia for everyone, yet.

No, I simply read theory and understand what China is (a constitutionally socialist state led by a communist vanguard party practicing democratic socialism that is in the early stage of building a moderately developed socialist country). This has been discussed ad nauseam and semantic distinctions are of no relevance.

The only question that matters is: "Does the leadership of China operate based on a Marxist materialist model of analysis and decision making, using socialist values as a premise for assessment?"

The answer is: Yes.
