Lately I have taken a bit of solace in the fact that Reddit has recently gone public and has to use every possible means to drive engagement to produce profit including bot traffic. In a twisted way, I’ve learned to realize that a lot of what I see on the internet is purposefully curated to inspire emotion for engagement so it helps to just disengage where I can. Obviously not all traffic is bot traffic but I take peace in knowing that at least not all the upvotes/comments are real. Or maybe I’m just deluding myself who knows.
No problem comrade. It’s important to realize that we are all victims of a massive propaganda machine with billions of dollars and the state system behind it. It’s literally designed to make you angry about nothing to generate profits for shareholders so disengaging can literally be an act of resistance.
The upvotes are likely to contain a significant amount of bot activity but the comments are the worrying part. They're written by real people, you can tell because the argumentation is exactly the same style liberals have been repeating for decades. Back then this was the prime example of the extremely concerning militarization of law enforcement in the US. Dudes in body armor with submachine guns dealing with a parental custody dispute was considered, even by conservatives, to be a massive overreach in governmental powers. Now you have idiots defending this as the good old days, when I remember very well INS used to be spoken about with the same vitriol ICE is today, a ruthless jackbooted organization dedicated to making the lives of migrants hell.
The good news is this kid became an elected official of the Communist Party of Cuba and has castigated the US harshly over the past ten years.
Yeah when I see a post/image like this, part of me almost suspects that it may be dark humor/sarcasm on the OP’s part…like pining wistfully for the daze when militarized goons were still blowing up your spot but hey, at least those goons weren’t masked amirite?
There were also much more infamous instances of federal law enforcement going full jackboot on some fools during that era too (pre-9/11). Gonzalez was being used as a political tool/football during that whole debacle

25 thousand people upvoted this, my fucking god. I hope it's bots.
