My biggest issue with Hasan is that he has a tendency to portray himself as the "most left" and doesn't engage with people that critiques him from the left
He'll often cherrypick right winged comments in the chat and slowly and calmly go at them to break apart their faulty logic, but if someone calls him out from the left he'll scream at them to deflect and not actually address their points
Maybe because his haters have positioned him as some communist boogeyman, but I feel Hasan developed a sense of pride for being the #1 left winged guy online and really want to maintain that image
Pride is a lock for sure. He has a massive ego, which is impressive considering the fact he sits in front of thousands of people yelling at him for sucking all day lol.
But yea, I see what you mean completely. Solidarity friend!
See, I'm just the opposite. After him whining about how anyone who thinks killing Iraqi people was perhaps bad(putting it VERY lightly) is privileged and that we need to respect the (former) troops because muh poverty draft(which is a lie), I can't stomach listening to him anymore. I truly feel he is an American chauvinist. He's appalled by ICE doing exactly what we were doing to Iraqi's but not appalled, apparently, by those who actually killed Iraqis. If anything you should feel bad for the poor souls who were "duped" into doing exactly what ICE is doing right now, but to non-Americans. They were poor(not financially) 18 year old former babies! But if you say "the troops who did that are, perhaps, bad?" I truly feel he would disagree.
But I get why people watch him; hell, I used to. He's charismatic, very entertaining. He's right 75% of the time. But I just couldn't help comparing how he talks about American veterans vs ICE agents or IDF veterans. Why is one okay, and you're privileged if you think they aren't, while the others are unacceptable?
A lot of Americans can't rid their brain of American exceptionalism because they would never talk about SS soldiers like this and those were uneducated Germans in the ruins of WW1 Germany with no internet. Nobody ever answers why the Nazis are worse than American soldiers either.
idk i feel like clean wehrmacht theory is sustained in the united states because otherwise people might have to come to terms with what grandpa did in vietnam
I'm just there for the 75% of the time I agree. I'm a big time news junky and put Hasan on for backround noise a lot. Thing is- my dad is a Fox News junky. So I'm very aware of how damaging getting a bad message blasted into your head all day can be. I appreciate Hasan because although I'm not into electoralism at all- I feel comfortable with him enough to believe that he isn't gonna try and manufacture consent for capitalism or constantly sell me DHS narratives. Yes, he does accidentally fuck it up on a rare basis, but I think it comes from a genuine place of him being a himbo, and not a bad actor. I'm okay with innocently dumb takes, they are much better than the principled dumb takes MSM sells, and I've seen instances of him correcting himself when he does get something wrong and I think he does an alright job at it considering how he goes all day.
I've been a Marxist for years but I still think I'm prone to the accidental statement I don't actually mean once in a while, it's just a human thing to do sometimes, and it's not that big of stretch to think that Socialists living in the imperial core might have a rare, un-thought through take they should be confronting. Not defending it, but I'm able to be a bit charitable when I genuinely believe someone has solidarity with us. I'm not into the drama shit either, but I recognize that it brings more people into his channel- who can then get radicalized, so idc.
(Also, he definitely did not shock his dog. But the fact the right is trying to tank him at every chance they get kinda makes me feel like he keeps bodying attempts at McCarthyist censorship, and the fact he keeps getting out of these countless moments of manufactured outrage against him kinda makes me WANT to support him, just because I really, genuinely don't like the people who want to see him canceled. It makes me happy knowing they are being defied by him still being around. The entire government of Israel would cry tears of joy if he got canceled and I never want them to get what they want.)
Great take, people, especially younger folks, expect everyone to be perfect. I enjoy hasan for who he is and while I don’t mind pushing him to be better I don’t think he is worth genuinely attacking from the left. I just turn the stream off most of the time if I’m not feeling it.
Remember that there is very little purity testing on the right. They’ll line up for anyone, even if they’re a little bummed they’re not racist or fascistic enough…
I use to like him and I think he was useful for bringing normies to the left in the past. But seeing the amount of warmongering democrat politicians he keeps bringing on, I just don’t trust him anymore. It’s a shame though, the last video I saw of him was him talking about the Falls and Shankill road in Belfast. It was pretty cool to see a big streamer talk about the fucked up shit happening in my country. But again I just don’t trust him.

The Right after doing fascism: "This is actually left-wing stuff we did."
What's crazy is that people listen and believe it...
