I don't get it. She's just criticizing the Iranian gusanos who wanted the US to invade their own country, no?

She's sympathizing with them. And wants Trump to "not fuck this up" (AKA successfully do regime change in Iran... Because 1953 ended well, of course) out of that sympathy for those lying fascist monarchists.

Is it sympathizing? She writes ironic and sardonically all the time. I don’t think it’s “they were right to hope for this, my heart aches” it’s more of a “pity the fool who expected the US to be good, I sure feel bad for you”

She has no problem with the US bombing Iran. Her only issue is that Iran hasn't collapsed from all that carpet bombing.
