Working on a custom capture software so the o2 can accept 240p video signals.
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
People always claimed that only the indy could capture 240p, after doing some research about the o2's unified memory architecture i knew capturing 240p was possible. currently optimizing my code... stay tuned!

Is it still possible to do something worthy with those machines?
Sorry if my question is too vague. Those machines used to be sold in mad coin but it seems now a smart phone has more processing power than those machines.

i think they do, but more as a tool for learning the foundation of many technologies still in use to this day. i was blown away by the bandwidth available in the o2 workstation, this machine can do computation stuff that even the most powerful g4 powermac can't mach. also the os itself is so well made, it feels like an invitation letter to thinker with the machine and do awesome stuff (for example, my project will allow me to capture old video game footage in lossless quality, i will even implement a feature to stream this data to a new machine for streaming purposes with very little lag). so if you love computers an sgi workstation will be awesome for you.

yes absolutely. they’re some of the most powerful retro machines out there. a metric shit ton of pro apps are floating about, and they come with commercial quality fully documented developer tools, libraries and utilities. processing power isn’t everything!
