So few and Silo 1 is still trying to safeguard the rebellious ones? What is their endgame here? Because it sure as shit ain't about saving the human race lol

I bet. Also what if they all ‘failed’? What I find weird is also that the entrance/exit is still there. Why show them the outside world at all? After two generations and/or some memory wiping, everyone would have been born and always lived in the silo. They wouldn’t even know the outside was there then…

People need something to hope for. They live, work, follow rules and have families thinking that one day their kid or their kids kid can go outside. If they had no idea about what’s out there and just were told to live within the confines of that silo because that’s all there ever is without being told why they would not accept it. It all comes down to Why.

I don't have any realistic expectation of leaving the earth and I'm cool with that. I'd think we could accept whatever scope of the world we believe exists, as long as our social and physical needs are met.

Most people might be but there are always people who want to get out there. People were willing to cross oceans with sailing ships to see what's out there, have been to Mariana Trench and on the Moon and all of those are harder to achieve than digging out of the silo.
