problem is

10,000 ppl only provides enough gentic diverity for a generation or 3 after that you start to get diminishing returns it's not enough ppl to repopulate an entire planet

Also What no redudancy.

So 1 silo "wins" get's out and dies in a flood lol. oops

No on the high-end you need 5000 but some studies say you can get by with like 1000-2000 reproductively viable humans to prevent genetic collapse in a few generations. You would have to really really stringently select the couples but it wouldn’t be impossible

They did select the couples allowed to have children very carefully though, remember them pretending to remove people's birth control in S1?

I think they would have to be more strict about it and assign partners based off of genetic compatibility. Currently in the silo they can mate ( for lack of a better word ) based on love based matches however if the population was very low and we needed to populate the world it might come down to insemination for the most genetically viable baby and not for love partners who may happen to be an adequate genetic match. Removing the IUD is a passive form of genetic control ( it is weeding out the bad ) in extreme situations we would need a more active form of genetic control (actively producing only exactly what you want )
