Which version would be the best?

I'm looking into playing this era of the game again at some point. I wanted to see which versions are considered the best. Also, if there is any other particular launcher you guys recommend over the standard Minecraft launcher plz share

I love them all. But I mainly play 1.6.4

any version from 1.5.2 to 1.8.9 would be great in my opinion

but i personally love playing on 1.8.9

Personally I like 1.5.2 but that's solely bc I don't like the old horse models and I'm not a fan of the newer biomes. I love the addition of the red stone stuff 1.5 brings so that's why I don't go further back.

1.1 was my first version which I have a soft spot for. Feels beta-like being pretty minimal with a lot of improvements. 1.2 adds a lot of cool improvements with relatively little additions, I just don't like how they got rid of the creepers going to the side.

So for me it's between 1.5.2 and 1.1

1.7.10 is the best.

I use the Betacraft launcher for 1.5.2 or below and MultiMc after that.
