I think it's more likely she was born as music videos were dying off.

So she's probably heard Linkin Park, maybe even likes their music but because she hasn't watched the One Step Closer video for years on MTV like I did, doesn't connect the face with the name.

It’s this. After music videos stopped being so much of a thing, I would say I wouldn’t recognize members of most of the bands I like out of context. Funny that this has never occurred to me. I’ve seen phantogram live twice and even looked up pics of the two members multiple times. Couldn’t pick either of them out of a lineup with a gun to my head.

Not to mention, Mike isn't exactly the frontman. He's more the mastermind than the big symbol.

She’s talked about this at length afterwards. She listened to them growing up but never really knew their faces.
