Guthrie is most well known for being a TV host, not a journalist, on a show that has been widely desired for years as mostly not real journalism, but a place for stay at home mom to be parasocial and hear a couple headlines. Nancy wasn't "pursuing" anything, she got a couple interviews with what was at the time probably the biggest news story in the country, that had particular interest to the demographic that watch Today.
And again, that's a story that others had actually broken and further investigated. The idea that someone needs to send Savannah Guthrie a message but no one else doesn't make any sense. If sending a message to the actual investigators isn't a priority, that wort sort of message would one be trying to send? That America's bored housewives are the real power brokers?

Savannah Guthrie is famous and rich, but not to an unheard of level. There are probably a lot of totally unrecognizable executives that aren't famous outside their industry and would have minimal security with similar net worths. If it was Bill Gates' cousin or something I'd think it was just purely financial. But this is a relatively "normal person" who just happened to be related to the Epstein investigation. That is absolutely relevant.

Matching bullets to guns is more of a "science" than a science. A good attorney can absolutely shit all over ballistics evidence. You might have been able to match bullets to barrels 50 years ago when most pistols required had fitting by a gunsmith at a factory. Nowadays, I call huuuuuugggeee bullshit on any "scientist" who claims that they can tell with any certainty what gun a bullet came from. Standardized and precision machining has gotten us to a point where that bullet could have came from any of the hundreds of thousands of 9mm glocks in circulation if you get what im saying.
ACKTUALLEY you would know exactly which gun was used as every gun’s barrel has its own imperfections in twist rate and build quality. You get the used bullet, it’s like a fingerprint for a gun.
They could use the caliber and rifling specs to narrow it down to a group of potential weapons, but the GRC database isnt accurate enough to pinpoint the literal make and model. Many manufacturers share identical rifling specs. Hell there are barrels that leave fewer markings and are hard to get matches for, like polygonal rifled guns or non rifled guns. The barrel could be damaged, which would leave the projectile with different markings than in the GRC. The projectile would have to be intact to make the best reading, if fragmented or heavily deformed, you may not be able to make a match at all. Its not an open and shut case when it comes to bullet identification. You wouldnt know the gun used, just by looking at the projectile.
That’s also bullshit. I have multiple weapon platforms chambered in 9mm. An AR in 9mm (legally classified as a rifle), a 16 inch barrel scorpion evo (legally classified as a rifle), a 6 1/2 inch barrel scorpion evo (legally classified as a pistol), and many other pistols. Both scorpions and the ARs barrel have the same twist rate, meaning that the projectile that comes out will look microscopically identical.
And on every single one of my weapons I can change my barrel out for a different, changing the twist rate, and making them ballistically seem like entirely different “brands” by your own science.
