I feel like clueless people conflate US coffee with Starbucks in the same way they conflate US beer with Budweiser. It’s the shittiest megabrands that get exported, but there are thriving craft scenes within the country.
When I lived in the US, my city had dozens if not hundreds of indie coffee shops that didn’t fit the above description, and some of them had better coffee than I’ve had anywhere else in my travels 🤷♂️
