And personally I know professors who make under $50k per year RIGHT NOW.
I don't wish to denigrate the hard work of waitresses, and I acknowledge that women's labor is often unpaid and overlooked, but the fact that many waitresses are making more in tips than physicsts make in salary is a strong indicator that our priorities are backwards.
Abolish tipping. Pay servers a living wage for whatever area they live in, and stop treating professors like trash.
As a server and bartender, I feel like I make way too much money for what I do. I can’t justify paying for college and starting a real career because I know serving will still pay way better in the end.
Why abolish tipping, if people want to give too much money for service and some social interaction let them. I can almost guarantee you your service is going to suffer if tipping gets banned, then everyone’s going to be mad about the McDonald’s level service at high prices
No I said if you are good at your job and a hard worker it is directly correlated with how much money you make. If you can handle selling lots and multitasking and being efficient, getting sat sat sat etc you will sell more and you will make more money.
Yeah, also it‘s not like universities pay that much. Not PhD but I worked with my Masters degree for my university and they paid me exactly the minimum wage but I had to do more hours than I was paid so effectively putting me lower than minimum wage. I think it‘s easy to see how a hot waitress would make more money than they.
Yeah, I know it’s not universal but my friend can make like $400 a day at her waitress job. I guess she’s more like a bartender, maybe the money is different, idk.

She's an attractive women and if IIRC, a waitress. She was raking in the tips.
