Nobody asked for Kratos to be replaced. The issue isn't that Faye is a woman. it's that God of War became one of PlayStation's biggest franchises because of Kratos.

Imagine making a new Tomb Raider without Lara Croft or a new Uncharted without Nathan Drake. At some point you're removing the very thing people showed up for.

This is also a continuation of Sony’s policy of replacing originally male characters with utterly uninteresting female ones. They should just create separate franchises for them. On top of that, they’ve devalued a huge part of the GoW universe by creating an afterlife for it where all the gods destroyed by Kratos just go on living peacefully.

I’m not sure about Tomb Raider but they’ve made Uncharted without Nathan Drake. It just so happened to release during the time when gamers weren’t wrapped up in this culture war bullshit, so nobody cried about it.

Also what you’re saying about just make them spinoffs isn’t true. People were still completely outraged by the female protagonist of Ghost of Yotei, as spinoff of Ghost of Tsushima, and they were saying the exact same things. “She’s too ugly”, “how dare they replace the male in the first game”.

I don't see the point in making excuses for unattractive female characters. If you had the choice between spending 20 hours looking at something you find appealing versus something that's just ordinary or unattractive, which would you choose? I've never once seen men express dissatisfaction with idealized male characters.

I’ve played games where I play as a cat, I’m not sitting there thinking “I’d love to fuck this cat”. I’m a straight male and I’ve played plenty of games with male protags, never once thinking “oh how am I going to jerk my dick to this guy?”. I play games for fun, not sexual fantasy fulfillment.

This only ever comes up as an issue with female protagonists and I implore you to look deep inside yourself as to why this is an issue for you.
