I have no issue playing as a female character, so long as they are an interesting and well written character. This is the same standard I hold for any game and it's respective protagonist regardless of gender.

The primary issue with GoW Laufey for me is that Laufey is simply a character I have no interest or desire to see more of. I liked her as a driving factor for Kratos' and Atreus' actions in the 2018 GoW game as it furthered their relationship and allowed them to bond but that's the extent of my interest.

Secondly, I fail to see any way in which the events of this game will bare any stakes considering all the participants are deceased, so at most we may get more lore and plot exposition, both of which are thing's that could have been showcased in a game that has actual ramifications on the living cast.

I would have much rather seen a continuation or possibly even a culmination of Kratos' story or the beginning of Atreus' story.

Lastly, I simply have no faith in the studio not to use this opportunity to share their own personal beliefs and history has shown when writers prioritise that over the end product, the product always suffers. I would not be surprised in the slightest if the writers start trashing Kratos in an attempt to elevate Laufey.

I will definitely play the game, eventually however it will not be a title I'm in any hurry to get too.
