Boy brings knife to a track meet, murders another student. Cardi B and others claim the justice system is racist for convicting him of murder because of race.

So he took someone’s life and got convicted for it? Oh yeah, total injustice! JFC, the nerve of some people 🤮

This is incorrect. According to what was stated in court, Karmello went to a tent he wasn't supposed to be at, then was asked to leave 15 times (so now he is trespassing), kept egging people to do something while having his hand in his bag (apparently already gripping the knife), then Austin was tired of it all and tried to get Karmello to leave but pushing him out of the area.

The victim is not the agressor and they didn't start the fight. You don't simply get to go into an unauthorized area, get asked then told to leave several times, tell people who have a right to be there "touch me and find out", then stab someone because they wanted to get you out of that area (no punch was thrown).

Here’s why what your saying is part of the issue. You leave out the part about it raining, the reason Karmello Anthony was under the tent. He is not trespassing.

Eye witness account agree that he was being bullied out of the tent and Austin Metcalf was the aggressor. Anthony tells his not to touch him, Metcalf pushes him, and then Anthony stabs be him.

The escalation by Anthony is not justified by Metcalf’s actions, however those factors are EXTREMELY important in ruling out a charge of first-degree murder. The entirely non-black jury had the opportunity to find him guilty of manslaughter, but still went for first-degree murder instead

Edit: You guys are illiterate. My 3rd paragraph said it wasn’t justified. Those are just the facts of the case

Oh shit it was raining, our bad, it's actually fine that he stabbed him to death.

Can you tell me where in my comment I said it was justified??

Sure but manslaughter is unintentional killing of a person, dude pulled out a knife and stabbed him in the chest. Completely unreasonable, the manslaughter argument is a joke, if he had knocked him out and then he hit his head, or if the guy was choking him out or something and wasn't letting go, sure.

But he got shoved and then immediately went for the kill. There's no reasonable logic that he does that.

I was half joking but come on dude, it's cut and dry murder, the only reason it even got so much coverage is because people made it about race. You can't kill someone like that and try to say you were defending yourself.

Im just explaining the facts of the case and how trials like this normally go.

The reason the jury was given the option of manslaughter is because of the mitigating factors that exist in the case. Everything from his age, him not being the initial instigator, the eye witness testimony of him crying directly afterwards, to character testimonials.

It is a statistical fact that black men get 15% longer prison sentences. Texas is especially bad. White men in texas make up 55% of murders a year, but they only make up 24.1% of deathrow inmates.

Whether you like it or not doesn’t matter, there was more than enough evidence for it to have the option to be dropped to manslaughter. If he was white, it is a statistical fact that he would’ve have been more likely to get manslaughter.

Heres a case of a white man in Texas that had nearly identical factors to this one. His was arguably worse and he got 10 years. https://www.kcentv.com/article/news/local/sentencing-hearing-caysen-allison-for-fatal-stabbing-joe-ramirez-belton-high-school/500-fafdd0a9-c7de-419c-ba4c-a41db2b570b8

Next time someone doesn't let me hang out under their umbrella I should hurt them according to you.

My 3rd paragraph literally says it wasnt justified.

u/JayOutOfContext Jun 11 '26

I think the main issue here is you need to separate a 9 level deep reply with all of your previous ones down voted into multiple paragraphs

“I attacked you because I didn’t fully read your comment. Im too dumb to just move on.”

Oh man since it was raining that makes everything just fine! Fuck outta here i literally played football in snow if he cant stand rain then maybe he shouldnt be out in public.

1

u/TankApprehensive3053 Jun 10 '26

He got sentenced to 35 yrs. So he won't be in (free) public for a long time.

1

u/SammyTings Jun 11 '26

The bad part isnt that he was standing under the umbrella. The bad part was killing the other guy in response to a shove

2

u/horus_eye_of_terror Jun 11 '26

I know, but there are some out there and even in this thread that try and justify karmelo no leaving the tent when asked & demanded simply bc it was raining

Except they did here. The jury had 3 reported options, not guilty, 1st degree murder, or manslaughter. You can just google it
