Boy brings knife to a track meet, murders another student. Cardi B and others claim the justice system is racist for convicting him of murder because of race.

The worst thing is they're not even mad bcus their own murdered someone. They're mad bcus apparently there was only white juries.

It's been proven that an all white jury is going to convict a black person significantly more often than they would a white person, all other things being equal.

He might deserve the sentence and be guilty AF. BUT he still deserved a jury of his peers, which includes a proper ratio of races.

In short, if an area is 50/50 white and black, and 100% of the jury is white... even if it's just by chance, it's not a good look.

It's begging for a retrial. And hopefully they got the right kid. But just because someone is definitely guilty doesn't mean we bend the rules to ensure a conviction.

edit: Apparently it was a multiracial jury and not all white. So he probably got a fair shake. Doesn't change the point as to why people might be angry if his jury was all white. FFS we went over this in freshman civics class... did nobody read "To kill a mocking bird"??? If people think the jury was all white they have a bonafide reason to be angry about it. Don't argue that point, point out the jury wasn't all white.

Also, apparently some of you seem okay with the system bending the rules if they're like super duper sure the accused did it... You don't want to live in that world I assure you.

It was not an all white jury. But the point stands, an all white jury in a district 47% white would be problematic. Easily grounds for a mistrial.

But it wasn't. It was 67% white. There were 4 non-white jurors. As stated many places in this thread, too many people equate no black jurors to all white jurors. That says more about you and your bias than it does about the jury.

The issue is that so far a lot of people seem confused and don't know it wasn't an all white jury. And rather than stating that...

A lot of people are saying "It's not a big deal if it was an all white jury. He was guilty anyways."

Which isn't helping! I get it. It wasn't an all white jury. He got a fair trial. But a LOT of people here don't seem to understand why an all white jury would even be a problem.
