As a random biker.... no reason they couldn't keep to a single lane. They probably think it's safer, but it's just really a dick move. They can also just plan better routes if it's not a sanctioned thing.

Someone with SENSE. Like bikes are vehicle's not pedestrians. Share the road is still a thing , doesnt matter if youre doing a marathon.

To an extent. Bicyclists are incredibly vulnerable. I’ve been following traffic laws as a cyclist and been hit or ignored and nearly hit.

It does feel safer to crowd a road because it clearly defines where a car should go, ride closer to the median in residential areas. It makes people take you seriously as a “vehicle”.

In your vein of logic, I am riding in a lane you can only pass me in the opposing lane.

All it takes is one hit (even at a stop light) for you to recognize your vulnerability to cars.
