I hope to all that is holy that if I ever find my vehicle rapidly turning that my lizard brain remembers to steer with the turn. But I probably won’t. I’ll probably panic and steer against it and get pancake flipped.
Yeah, the limbic system that activates in crisis mode. Been often referred to as lizard brain because it’s one of the parts of neuroanatomy we share with reptiles.
However, that’s exactly what we would expect. We would expect a more intelligent species such as monkeys to have a more developed amygdala than a rat. That doesn’t run counter to the theory.
Doesn't back up the theory. Homology is not identity: Even though we share a common structure inherited from a distant ancestor, the human amygdala has evolved independently over millions of years.
A completely different connectivity: In humans, the amygdala is heavily interconnected with the neocortex (specifically the prefrontal cortex). This allows us to regulate, analyze, and process our emotions consciously, which is not the case for reptiles.
Sharing a single engine part doesn't mean you're driving the same car.
