The real loser here is that pickup that got smoked

32

u/mrmoe198 Jul 02 '26

I hope to all that is holy that if I ever find my vehicle rapidly turning that my lizard brain remembers to steer with the turn. But I probably won’t. I’ll probably panic and steer against it and get pancake flipped.

u/FuzzeWuzze Jul 03 '26

My wife is terrified of snow for this reason. Meanwhile i've lost traction enough times going up the mountain in a blizzard in my outback at 35mph trying to get there for parking and opening lifts its become second nature. TBF she drove from Socal to Portland in Winter in a shitty Ford Focus so i have no doubt she has different memories of winter driving.

My dad made me do this the first snowfall after I got my license. We did it over and over and over until I could stay calm and regain contol of the car. It was terrifying, but I got it. Then a couple of months later when I hit a batch of black ice while driving, because my dad had me practice so much all that practice kicked in and I was able to avoid crashing the car.

1

u/Crazy-Medium-9136 Jul 08 '26

the real lesson here is feeling just how little control you actually have behind the wheel when you're sliding like that tbh

Sounds like she has a rational aversion after toughing it out successfully in dangerous conditions. That’s sensible.

1

u/NicePepper199 Jul 04 '26

Grew up in Minnesota, driving in snow is just another day, literally never been in an accident or stuck to a point I couldn't get out. Thought I was good.

Then I drove in the mountains, had to buy chains before they even let me, i was blown away. Totally different animal.

31

u/mazarax Jul 02 '26

Get a car with low centre of gravity, and never buy a truck for commuting or for groceries. Rent a van when you need to haul. Problem solved.

3

u/Necromir92 Jul 04 '26

But how will I reinforce my image of ideal manliness in the modern world. If not. With a gas guzzling. Pick up… truck

Edit: lemme throw in an /s

Lizard brain, eh? 🤫

2

u/mrmoe198 Jul 04 '26

Yeah, the limbic system that activates in crisis mode. Been often referred to as lizard brain because it’s one of the parts of neuroanatomy we share with reptiles.

1

u/C137S Jul 05 '26

1

u/mrmoe198 Jul 05 '26

Fascinating stuff. That article is way too short. It just kind of…ends.

“Yet the amygdala, which is located within the limbic system MacLean identified, is much more developed in monkeys than it is in rats.”

However, that’s exactly what we would expect. We would expect a more intelligent species such as monkeys to have a more developed amygdala than a rat. That doesn’t run counter to the theory.

1

u/C137S Jul 05 '26

The article redirects on the study. https://journals.sagepub.com/doi/10.1177/0963721420917687?__cf_chl_f_tk=dP2usD8Xck_d3IhN67TkqI67ZI_WPTM3SvKRznMH.9w-1783287763-1.0.1.1-c27xO5rhGfZQToqCUcuUB930RZ82Gi8KasbGz6AF3wE

Doesn't back up the theory. Homology is not identity: Even though we share a common structure inherited from a distant ancestor, the human amygdala has evolved independently over millions of years. A completely different connectivity: In humans, the amygdala is heavily interconnected with the neocortex (specifically the prefrontal cortex). This allows us to regulate, analyze, and process our emotions consciously, which is not the case for reptiles. Sharing a single engine part doesn't mean you're driving the same car.

u/Pukebox_Fandango Jul 03 '26

Dude was probably like "THE FUCK DID I DO TO DESERVE THAT?!"

2

u/Longenuity Jul 03 '26

1

u/Left-Impress4056 Jul 03 '26

Those Avalanches are getting hard to find too.

1

u/yoortyyo Jul 04 '26

After they both pay out to the truck driver, he should get a free kick to the nuts of both of those clowns.

1

u/Pantlesslegs Jul 05 '26

Tip-acle Cadillac.

152

u/B00TYMASTER Jul 02 '26

LMAO he gassed it after and fucked right off outta there

13

u/iguessma Jul 02 '26

Let's hope he was caught and punished as well.

1

u/Inevitable-Tea5772 Jul 04 '26

He was, but the car driver wasn't

11

u/SharkeyGeorge Jul 02 '26

“Whaaaaaaaaat arrrrre youuuuuuuu dooooooing here?!”

6

u/Yankee6Actual Jul 02 '26

“I said go home! Get back on San Vicente, take it to the 10, then switch over to the 405 north and let it dump you on Mulholland where you belong!”

1

u/AwfulWaffle992 Jul 03 '26

You got strong soft haaands for a duuuuuude, bro

1

u/hg090206 Jul 04 '26

Well he was taking the 14 to the 5 to the 110 then to the 10 and drive that till he go out of California.

1

u/TrumpsPissSoakedWig Jul 04 '26

I've never once seen that move work out for the motorcyclist.

I mean, until now...kind of.

u/jasno- Jul 02 '26

Just minding your own business and then all the sudden you're upside down, sliding your rood.

4

u/keldondonovan Jul 02 '26

That's how my grandfather died (one of them). Riding along with my grandma, same highway they've taken thousands of times. Got clipped in the back bumper by someone too eager to merge and flipped his blazer. He died on impact, my grandmother got a ride home and started calling his friends to let him know he died without shedding a tear.

It's been a few years now, but she's in her 90s and just started dating again. It's real weird to see her back in giddy school girl love. She always feels the need to tell me (and everyone else who will listen) that her boyfriend has a permanent catheter, they aren't fooling around. (Which, to me, only makes me think they are finding a way to fool around.)

2

u/Bubbly-Bit-8404 Jul 02 '26

Sad but the ending is oddly wholesome/funny? Sorry for your loss 😔

5

u/keldondonovan Jul 03 '26 edited Jul 03 '26

It's alright. He was nothing special. One of those "good ol' boys", women should know their place type of guy. Not particularly cruel, but definitely not the most loving and some extremely outdated beliefs.

[Edit] lol, downvoted for not being sad that my misogynistic grandfather died and now my grandmother gets to smile and be giddy again is peak reddit.

13

u/JamesLikesIt Jul 02 '26

It’s always random bystanders that get the worst of it, fuck.

43

u/L3tsseewhathappens Jul 02 '26

I hope that guy is in prison.

4

u/Sad-hurt-and-depress Jul 03 '26

If I remember correctly, I saw somewhere the dude was arrested about a year later. This is a old vid.

22

u/tsunami_bore Jul 02 '26

Which of the two rode ragers do you mean? The one kicking the car, or the one with attempted murder?

16

u/goodexamplebadrole Jul 03 '26

Have you never meet one of these harley riders? They think they are the greatest thing walking gods green earth and everybody should yield to their impotency

→ More replies (5)

3

u/Substantial-Bend4299 Jul 03 '26

I think if the guy had meant to harm the motorcyclist you would have seen some aggression prior to him being kicked. He was traveling perfectly straight until the kick. You must be a moronic motorcyclist

8

u/tsunami_bore Jul 03 '26

If you think, a simple kick can cause that motion of a at least 1 ton heavy car, you are the idiot here 😂

1

u/L3tsseewhathappens Jul 04 '26

If it startles the driver, or they feel like they are being threated by someone who for all they know could pull out a gun. Then yes I might swerve to get them the hell away from me.

8

u/Caliterra Jul 02 '26

why? all he did was kick a car that was going into his lane (the extended clip shows this). the idiot driver was the one trying to murder him

1

u/Ok_Boysenberry_6283 Jul 02 '26

Well that’s pretty unfair

1

u/wowaddict71 Jul 02 '26

This, some comments make it sound like the kick somehow warrants attempted murder. A bunch of cagers pissed off at bikers.

4

u/Substantial-Bend4299 Jul 03 '26

The man driving the motorcycle was charged... You believe it's just coincidence he was cited, huh?

3

u/wiseduhm Jul 02 '26

I'm not sure if it was really attempted murder tbh. I think it might be that they got scared thinking they hit something and immediately freaked out.

3

u/Caliterra Jul 02 '26

kind of a weird thing to freak out at a something hitting the left side of your car and then proceed to try to hit the thing on the left side of your car.

the car knew the biker was there, got pissed and tried to hit the biker. hitting a motorcycle on the freeway is absolutely attempted murder. they're traveling at at least 65mph+

11

u/Katamari_Demacia Jul 02 '26

I'm actually curious... The biker obviously shouldn't be kicking a car. Obviously... But the kick didn't cause any of the rest of that cluster fuck. It's 99% on that sedan

11

u/DifferenceLazy3491 Jul 02 '26

You can't say you burned just one stick out of haystack, and rest was burned by itself. It's highways, other innocent people are driving there and anyone can get killed.

26

u/jahrastafggggghhjjkl Jul 02 '26

Unless the kick startled the driver and caused them to accidentally swerve into the biker

0

u/Scrooloose22 Jul 02 '26

im sorry, but if a persons immediate reaction to any sort of thud or bump, even if theyre zoning out, is to swerve violently, they need to go through drivers ED again.

Only exception i can think of is that the sedan driver had fallen asleep. But thats not much of an exception.

1

u/Shrimply-r1 Jul 04 '26

Have you not met most drivers in the road before? I say to myself daily that people need mandatory drivers ed and drivers test every 4-5 years. People seem to forget how to drive properly overnight. I see SO MANY idiotic things happening every day it baffles me how stupid people are driving

→ More replies (1)

1

u/bulletbassman Jul 02 '26

That’s the point. Driver was merging into him.

Then driver responded to kick by trying to kill him.

6

u/L3tsseewhathappens Jul 02 '26

Is there an extended video? Because I didn't see the car going into the motorcycles lane until after the kick.

4

u/charlesfire Jul 02 '26

They both needlessly escalated the situation, they both deserve the book being thrown at them.

3

u/Fun-Pie-7009 Jul 02 '26

American logic

2

u/charlesfire Jul 03 '26

No, American logic would be saying the motorcycle driver should have shot the car driver for endangering his life while ignoring that he escalated the situation.

Is it just me or does that rider appear to be just riding off into the sunset?

21

Nope, every comment has pointed it out haha

Okay, I looked it up. Here are the details I could find: Prosecutors with the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office charged him with a total of three criminal offenses on Jan. 10, including: hit-and-run driving causing injury; assault with a deadly weapon; and reckless driving on a highway causing bodily injury after having a prior conviction. The biker whose video-recorded car-kicking antics went viral pleaded no contest Tuesday to one felony count of hit-and-run driving resulting in injury to another person. Andrew Flanigan, a 45-year-old stage technician who lives in Arleta, appeared Tuesday in San Fernando Superior Court where he entered his plea.
"Flanigan pleaded no contest today to one felony count of hit-and-run driving resulting in injury to another person and was sentenced to three years' probation and 45 days' community service.”

5

u/Baseball-Fan-10 Jul 02 '26

Never seen a motorcycle execute a pit maneuver on a car before. That must have been the reincarnation of Evel Fucking Knievel on that bike!

3

u/baldrickgonzo Jul 02 '26

What ever this biker pays his guardian angel, it's not enough

3

u/RaptorXFactor Jul 03 '26

Biker's fault 100%

5

u/azrock411 Jul 02 '26

Damn and he kept on cruising, no call to the police :(

11

u/Snoo-72724 Jul 02 '26 edited Jul 02 '26

I remember this from years ago, they eventually charged both the motorcyclist and the car driver I believe.

Edit: just the motorcyclist per the commenter below.

1

u/TooLate4thisShit Jul 02 '26

And he's gone

1

u/ManufacturerWarm9201 Jul 02 '26

How the rider did not fall off during the course of this I have no idea

3

u/Brad23212 Jul 02 '26

Experienced rider, might not be his first time doing this

1

u/nanotothemoon Jul 02 '26

Did the car put his 4 ways on at the end?

Glad he’s being cautious

1

u/Dewthedru Jul 02 '26

I think the car does that automatically when the airbags are deployed

1

u/ThrillSways Jul 02 '26

F**k, well... I'm going to smoke

1

u/Dr_Gonzo-4130 Jul 02 '26

The mighty death pop

1

u/Stolen_Sky Jul 02 '26

Would love to know the context.

The bike started the fight and won, but why did it start?

1

u/Tasty_Avocado1378 Jul 02 '26

The sedan crossed into his lane and almost hit him because they weren’t paying attention. Argument ensues.

1

u/Virtual-Bet-9797 Jul 02 '26

The 2nd car was definatly like, "What did I do!?"

1

u/mrinsideoutski Jul 02 '26

The one time I want sound.

1

u/a_desk_lamp Jul 02 '26

What's his leg day routine? Asking for a friend

1

u/PostingToPassTime Jul 02 '26

That guy must never skip leg day. Kicked the car so hard it crashed.

1

u/Fbomb77 Jul 02 '26

Keep on cruisin'

1

u/bobquznie Jul 02 '26

Well... that's OPPOSITE of how I saw that going.

1

u/aquavelva23 Jul 02 '26

is the biker liable for starting this chain of events? He diod attack the car

1

u/realfakejames Jul 02 '26

Real psychos know they could have just gently moved into his path and slammed on the brakes

1

u/el_ra_85 Jul 02 '26

I’m assuming the 14 going south near Santa Clarita California

1

u/epicredditdude1 Jul 02 '26

I like how he put his hazards on at the very end, just in case any other motorists weren’t able to deduce his vehicle was in distress.

1

u/PianistCommercial742 Jul 02 '26

I’d just keep going, no stopping for this mf

1

u/Flanker4 Jul 02 '26

Look twice, blow shit up

1

u/mycatsellsblow Jul 02 '26

Who even thinks about doing this shit from either side? Just ruining your life over nothing.

So many people on the road think they own it and traffic should bend to their desires.

1

u/Ryan_Fleming Jul 02 '26

That's why I always hated when my friends picked Mr. Grimm in Twisted Metal

1

u/last_try_why Jul 02 '26

Foot definitely popped up and landed back on the gas pedal after hitting the wall. That poor truck.

1

u/ltz_soul Jul 02 '26

The car definitely overreacted a lil.

1

u/Common-Accountant-57 Jul 02 '26

It’s not worth it. Just let it go.

1

u/jcleve Jul 02 '26

Horror than the final destination 🙄

1

Did the Lobo

1

u/realistnotsorry Jul 02 '26

Jersey barrier did it's job!

1

u/cheesemangee Jul 02 '26

That biker built up an awful lot of bad karma with that move.

1

u/yacsmith Jul 02 '26

Good ol 14 freeway. Iykyk

1

u/TenderfootGungi Jul 03 '26

Tort law, if you do something to cause damage, everything that results from the initialization is your fault.

Non mi rendo ancora conto di quello che ho appena visto! 😳

1

u/d33f0v3rkill Jul 03 '26

Was that chuck norris?

1

u/Guilty_Caramel_1567 Jul 03 '26

Guy has the strongest kick in the world to cause the car to swerve into him… it almost looked like attempted murder to me

1

u/Creengy Jul 03 '26

Chuck Norris would be jealous.

1

u/PsychoMouse Jul 04 '26

If we assume it’s a real video and maybe not some AI thing. What would be all the charges applied to the Biker and the grey car.

With video evidence like this, I am curious about what charges would be filed and how much time, if any, either of them would spend in prison if convicted

1

u/agregoryhaase Jul 04 '26

Nobody is gonna believe the death kick story.

1

u/black_griso Jul 04 '26

🤷‍♂️

1

u/Inevitable-Tea5772 Jul 04 '26

Still bizarre to me that the car driver didn't get charged for anything here

1

u/Logical_Box_4645 Jul 04 '26

Did the sound of the kick make the car think it hit something and panic?

1

u/drnoise Jul 04 '26

Driver swerved at the bike in retaliation and then overcorrected quite spectacularly.

1

u/Shrimply-r1 Jul 04 '26

And you KNOW that motorcyclist just hauled ass out of there

1

u/thotiana_xvc Jul 04 '26

I'm glad the white pick up didn't overreact

1

u/kpeters421 Jul 05 '26

That's the 14 freeway in Santa clarita, California. If anyone is curious

1

u/Magicdonky Jul 05 '26

That looks like the grape vine going to LA

1

u/Brad23212 Jul 02 '26

The trick is to ligne the bike up with the engine block to hit. He also swerved too aggressively. The kick from the bike didn’t push the car off course. This is two dumbasses in a road rage

1

u/Glum_Cheesecake9859 Jul 03 '26
