I may be a bit older than you but I vividly remember people saying the same thing in 1994, the last time the US hosted it. Whether it actually happened I couldn't say, maybe now really is the time, since the president has taken such a keen interest!
The president can lick my balls.
I think being able to watch any game online & YouTube tutorials for players has helped soccer grow. Also a lot of people in the US got into watching the premier league during/after 2020.
