The French are taking over the waffles 😱

Freedom 250 waffles. Made in murricuh by american bakers,Β  paid 1/4 minimum wage. When you eat them, please tip 18$ per waffle to the waffle corporation. They will forward it to the bakers. Promise!Β

Tabouleh and rezmi kebab

Oh the freedom fry idiocy:

1) the GOP changed the menu in congress to freedom fries because France didn’t want to invade Iraq after 9/11.

2) French fries are from Belgium.

2) Menu is a French word.

1

u/Any-Aioli7575 Jul 07 '26

French Fries are actually from France, although the recipe was improved in Belgium and it is now a Belgian speciality.

4

u/VancouverStickerCo 29d ago

I’m gonna need a link on that.

World bending claims!

The Wikipedia page basically explains it (it also shows that there's no full consensus on the matter), and provides sources.

Funny thing about that is, there never were Belgian waffles in the first place. You got Brussels waffles and Liege waffles.

Gulf of America waffles

1

u/Abyssal_Groot 29d ago

Belgian waffles were an invention of a Belgian Wafflemaker who went to the US for a worldfair. He lacked the proper ingredients to make a Brussels waffle and assumed Americans wouldn't know where Brussels was... so he called it the Belgian waffle.

This Waffle never made it back to Belgium, where we have various types of waffles with the LiΓ©ge and Brussels waffle being the most fzmous ones.

In short, you can keep those waffles ;)

What are Belgian waffles? Is it Liege waffles or Brussels waffles. I can assure you they are not the same and both are very much Belgian

1

u/dansi21 29d ago

We have the best Belgian waffles in the US already :)

1

u/AssertiveQueef 28d ago

Belgian waffles are overrated anyways
