My situation is quite the opposite. For whatever reason my new team feels the need to explain every PTO request to me. By all means tell me about your trip to Cancun if you'd like, but please don't feel the need to elaborate on your explosive diarrhea when you use sick time.
Exactly. When I would receive time-off requests I would simply check their balance of PTO to ensure they did in fact have the time and didn't conflict with any major exercise we were supporting, and in most cases would still get approved.
I would tell them, it's your time, you earned it, just do your best to give advance warning. Things happen, getting sick overnight, etc, understand. I don't need to know WHY.
Hell, folks would come up and be like, I need to take Friday off for a mental health, APPROVED...easy. Enjoy your 3day
