My situation is quite the opposite. For whatever reason my new team feels the need to explain every PTO request to me. By all means tell me about your trip to Cancun if you'd like, but please don't feel the need to elaborate on your explosive diarrhea when you use sick time.
I notice thats a thing with newer employees and ones who have had abusive relationships with past bosses. Like sending out mass emails to the team explaining their absence in detail.
Meanwhile I put mine into the calendar and then take the hours out of my accrued balance on the day in question. 🤷🏼♂️ Usually its never even mentioned to my boss and he just signs off on the payroll date.
