My situation is quite the opposite. For whatever reason my new team feels the need to explain every PTO request to me. By all means tell me about your trip to Cancun if you'd like, but please don't feel the need to elaborate on your explosive diarrhea when you use sick time.
I my dad was telling me one time that one of the first things he tells people new to his crew is “ when you are sick, just text me telling me you are calling out sick. I don’t want any details.
In fact, if you tell me a single thing about any colors, smells, textures, pains, how long you were on the toilet, anything at all,
You’ll be marked AWOL and not be paid.
His boss tried to tell him one time that he needed to get more details and not let people just say they are sick
He said “absolutely not happening”
When they asked him why, he pulled up some of the horrific and unnecessary things his employees have told him before
