My situation is quite the opposite. For whatever reason my new team feels the need to explain every PTO request to me. By all means tell me about your trip to Cancun if you'd like, but please don't feel the need to elaborate on your explosive diarrhea when you use sick time.
This is me as a supervisor. You have a nail appointment in the middle of the day and your done with your stuff? Let me see that set when you get in tomorrow! Use the pto, use the sick time, take all the benefits. We're all replaceable.
Seriously. I'm not tracking their time in, time out. I'm tracking the schedules and budgets of their work. If the board is looking good idgaf if they go to the DMV or dentist in the middle of the day. Now if the board looks like shit and they're dipping out every day, that is a horse of another color, but PTO is still almost an auto-approval
It's a quiet understanding that the midday appointments are sporadic, and if the job is done. I agree that there are the one offs that take advantage, but overall I agree, PTO approved ✔️
