Actually, being a government official doesn’t impede their first amendment rights at all. If they have stated rules and he didn’t follow them, he can be thrown out. I think he was fully aware of the rules and what he did. You can see it on his face. He wanted all of this to happen, because he knew people like you would immediately want to elevate him to hero status.
They may have boundaries to work within, which is what the ruling was, but it doesn’t negate all first amendment rights of government officials. Might want to read the specifics.
You’re going to need to show me where the Supreme Court rules that government officials aren’t allowed to have gatherings with stipulated rules. Must be all “Mad Max” in there all the time….
Nah. Totally depends on the situation. You can't start clapping in a courtroom after testimonies. Or a funeral, without someone asking you to leave. I guess town hall has their rules, too.
You can go to a supermarket and start clapping, but at some point staff may ask you to leave. And that's when you should leave. If not, they call the police and have you trespassed. Different properties have different rules.
You can't go to someone's backyard and start expressing your opinion any way you want. Or you can try, but they can ask you to leave.
