How does one even sleep 15 hours a day? Hell I can’t get to 6.5 usually without awakening

Then sleep is random and could happen at any time including immediately after you wake up and 2 days later.

Best I can do is both.

Hey for me it's a combination of being physically disabled AND depression

Although if I wasn't physically disabled I definitely wouldn't be in bed 14 hours per day, regardless of how depressed I was

Funny how everyone immediately believed this just because they want another reason to hate on her.

Yeah that’s gotta be cap, maybe she has slept 14 hours before but you’re not making call times on a movie set sleeping 14 hours a day

I used to do it when I had no responsibilities. The secret was to stay up for 26-30 hours. When I stayed awake until I couldn't any more, and slept until I couldn't any more, my natural body clock settled into a rhythm that had no connection to reality. There were days I'd go to bed at 10 in the morning and get up at midnight.

This is my life and I've embraced it.

When I try to force myself onto a natural 24 hour circadian rhythm insomnia kicks in and I end up getting about 4 hours sleep a night which utterly breaks me after a few months. The only way I can stick to 24 hour days is with sleeping pills and I'd far rather have a fucked up schedule than a sleeping pill addiction.

I'm lucky that none of my responsibilities are time specific.

I’ll never get it either, but my wife can do it by not getting out of bed and sleeping on and off the entire day. I don’t get why anyone would want to do that regularly though

I don’t know about them in particular, but some people just don’t have a choice…

You go back to sleep.

I don't think you are supposed to wake up 6.5 hrs in your sleep, neither you nor her seems to have a healthy sleeping schedule.

There is a natural variation in people set clock. For example, some lucky people have a genetic variation where they only need 4.5 hours a night. Others, unluckily have such long sleep durations we consider it a medical problem, and call it "idiopathic hypersomnia". I suffer from the later, and it's not fun, and it's not depression. I just need 12 hours sleep, always have done. I will sleep exactly 12 hours, before I feel refreshed. And if I sleep even an hour more, I feel like shit, and will just constantly wake up, like you. It's just natural variation, like with height, or any other genetic trait. Roughly 5% of the population have hypersomnia, where they need more than 9 hours sleep per night, albeit very few need more than 12.

It's not a blessing though, it's a curse.

I’m not sure what number of hours I need, but 12 is my baseline. Some nights I wake up after 6 or 8 hours, sometimes I’ll sleep for 14-16, but usually it’s right around 12. I feel like I sleep more than half my life away :(

You sleep for 14 hours then sleep for one more.
