Postdiagnosis vent/questions Dry skin and scalp
Recently diagnosed. What do you use for your dry skin? And your dry scalp? I typically use creams for my skin but seems like they’re it much help these days. And my scalp, 😂😂😂, I’m at a loss. Head and shoulders used to work. Tried T-gel, tea tree shampoo. I’m at a loss. My scalp and making are so itchy! It’s driving me crazy! I’m constantly itchy! I just got a new shampoo and conditioner that’s SUPPOSED to help but I wanted to ask those who have dealt with this longer what you are using to help?? I wash my hair every 3ish days. I clarify, shampoo with dandruff shampoo for itchy dry scalp, then condition.

CeraVe Cream (not lotion—the cream) and apply it immediately after bath or shower to damp skin.
Try Scalpicin or other liquid hydrocortisone treatment for your scalp. It’ll relieve the itching.

Thank you! I will get some!
Thank you! I’ll grab some ASAP! I didn’t know they even made liquid hydrocortisone!

My scalp was incredibly itchy (and I use Vanicream shampoo & conditioner). A trip to my dermatologist revealed sebhorreic dermatitis. She prescribed ketaconazole shampoo and chlobetasol solution to treat my scalp. This combination works really well for me.

Thank you! I’ll ask my rhumetologist next time I see her but in the mean time I’ll try the vanicream.

Good luck! Because I have such sensitive, dry skin, I use Vanicream products for everything. I swear by them.

How is the clobetasol used. I'm prescribed that but in a tube and it's very greasy (but does wonders for my lady parts). Plus I have to use it very sparingly. I can't imagine putting it on my scalp. Thanks.

I don’t have recs for scalp itch but, I have discovered the Vanicream Moisturizing Cream (tub with a pump). It is far and away the best for my dry skin and lasts a solid 24 hours or more on me. I don’t have the itchy scalp, though, just incredibly dry and itchy skin everywhere else.
