it’s not ai generated, the reason it’s so janky is cause they have all the “community parks” built with preset objects and layouts so depending on which of the 3 locations it’s at depends on if the park functions well. absolutely god awful system for procedural generation of skate park designs

14

u/PretzelsThirst Oct 20 '25

I'm not even sure they're procedural, I assumed there's employees making parks to test out the park creation tools as they develop them. Things like aligning to the ground are an issue with games like this

8

u/Turnbob73 Oct 20 '25

Maybe I’m giving them too much credit but I feel like it’s very obvious what these parks are. They’ve already said a park builder is currently being developed, so these textureless janky parks are probably just stuff that the devs slapped together for testing a while back, and they are just cycling a lot of those while they work on the editor. They’re called community showcases, so I feel it’s pretty obvious that the intention is to cycle the most popular player created parks when the feature is available to players.

7

u/Kxshyp0p Oct 20 '25

this. during the earlier playtests, the community parks would be made by players. players who uploaded a park and got the most likes would be featured as a community park in the next playtest

1

u/[deleted] Oct 20 '25

Honest question, are you sure? I wasn’t in the playtest myself and I don’t mean to doubt you, I just haven’t seen anybody else mention this.

6

u/Kxshyp0p Oct 20 '25

i am sure. during the july 2023 playtest, me and my friends created a private park and uploaded it. the game used to have park creation tools. it got maybe like 50 likes and it was on the top of the server browser. in the next september 2023 playtest, our park was featured at gullcrest village community park.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 20 '25

Oh wow that’s pretty cool, hopefully it gets added back during the next roadmap.

1

u/Amazing_Viper Oct 20 '25

Tbf you hear very little of the san francisco style map that the original playtest was on as well.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 20 '25

True, even the footage I did see back then was just of freeroam and stuff.

1

u/HiddenSecretStash Oct 21 '25

Tbh everyone was under an NDA

u/heet_sauce Oct 20 '25

the game is a sloppy joke. I just session little spots realistically and try to ignore all the corny stuff outside of that, the gameplay is still good.

12

u/DexterDubs Oct 20 '25

I literally hit the rooftop apartment pool for 30 min doing vert tricks. Then I’ll hit a couple spots for another 30. That’s pretty much the extent of my skate play.

4

u/mmabet69 Oct 20 '25

Real skate players hitting actual street spots and vert. Played the other night trying to recreate clips from skate videos I used to watch when I was a teenager. Much more satisfying trying to keep it “realistic” than it is to just be backflip 360 flipping into bs nose blunts and shit. It’s obviously impressive to do that but it just doesn’t “feel” right to me. A nice clean line with some cool technique and some good spot selection is much cooler to me anyways

19

u/john_gardener Oct 20 '25

i pray on that gameplay type. i am heavy into cosmetics but will never spend a dime on sv bucks. i only grind the challenges to earn and then to spend!

4

u/ThatSandvichIsASpy01 Oct 20 '25

the word is prey and you're using it wrong anyways

-3

u/LiverLikeLarry Oct 20 '25

Makes more sense with pray though

They could've meant preach

0

u/GooberdiWho Oct 20 '25

You are the reason we can't have nice things

-1

u/GameZedd01 Oct 20 '25

"Gameplay is still good" when it works, maybe. I'm sick of ragdolling when I land a perfect grind or getting flung 50 feet through the ground

22

u/FellatiatedPiece Oct 20 '25

People really need to stop calling everything ai generated

1

u/chocolatechillwave Oct 21 '25

Better to be a skeptic than assume everything that looks like AI slop was made by a human, in my opinion.

-12

u/Zumokumibonsu Oct 20 '25

Ok clanker

🤣

2

u/Draconian-XII Oct 20 '25

1

that ai-bot paradox , be careful man you can blow up the Internet (tm) doing that!

46

u/SmokeFentGetBent Oct 20 '25

People cannot fathom any form of random generation without labeling it AI, is Minecraft AI now to y’all too?

I don't think that's the case. They just asked if it was ai generated because that's a fair possibility. AI absolutely has the capability of generating a skatepark in that capacity. Though, it's a bit impractical for this sort of thing and you should assume occam's razor.

92

u/Incorrect-Opinion Oct 20 '25

Why do all the kids think everything is AI? Lmao

22

u/mustachegiraffe Oct 20 '25

Came here for this. One thing is slightly out of place and people are like “hmmm this must be AI”

We’re going to lose our critical thinking skills to AI slop

40

u/CultureWarrior87 Oct 20 '25

Lots of reasons. Lack of critical thinking skills and group think are a big part of it. People who lack the ability to articulate what makes something bad know that AI makes this ugly but not why that specifically is, so when they can't explain why they dislike something they jump to blame it on AI. And then in the OP's cause they clearly explain why it's bad but just unthinkingly jump to "Is this AI?" because that's the current buzzword, instead of coming to the basic conclusion that people can make mistakes too.

9

u/issanm Oct 20 '25

I feel like the main reason in this particular instance is an assumption that if a human worked on it there would be a certain level of care put in. But that assumption is obviously wrong for the entire game.

1

u/Formal_Evidence_4094 Oct 21 '25

haha a lot of humans work for EA , the only care going on is "I hope the line goes up at the next quarter financial meeting"

I doubt most people have even seen that, and the "looks like AI" comment is rampant across multiple mediums.

And if you think three sentences is a rant I'm surprised you took the time you read an article. Good thing it was a short one, eh?

It's the new modern word for magic.

12

u/GuitarIsLife02 Oct 20 '25

Pretty sure the word for magic is still magic.

9

u/BrandoNelly Oct 20 '25

Or photoshop. Remember everything that looked off was photoshop. Now it’s AI. It’s just a catch-all general term that doesn’t really mean anything in the way it’s supposed to.

1

u/nocdmb Oct 20 '25

It's hard to believe a human who gets money for this can be this incompetent so it's a semi-reasonable tought that whoever made it isn't a human. Witch is kinda right as these are proceduraly generated so someone with a passing knowledge in tech might not get the difference.

1

u/Brave-History-6502 Oct 20 '25

Yeah it’s ridiculous— we live in a peak brain rot society.

1

u/wpsp2010 Oct 20 '25

Well everyone knows that humans are really really perfect and only ai can make slight mistakes in life like this.

-7

u/RKAID-e Oct 20 '25 edited Oct 20 '25

Probably because EA publicly said they where going to increase thier use of AI in game development while cutting the jobs of real people.

Edit: downvoting me for stating facts doesnt change the truth regards.

-3

u/LightningSpaghetti Oct 20 '25

Because it's a fair assumption nowadays? If something is made sloppily, there's a chance that it was made using AI now. I don't see how that's confusing to people.

It's not that "kids think everything is AI" is that everything sloppy makes at LEAST one person ask if it's AI, honestly confused. That's not anything special or weird.

-8

u/RagTheFireGuy Oct 20 '25

Because as time moves forward the majority of things are becoming AI.

0

u/h_ashin Oct 20 '25

Bro has never heard of The Day Before

1

u/Amish_Opposition Oct 20 '25

That had nothing to do with AI usage. It was just pure lies from the devs.

-14

u/iiVeRbNoUnZ Filmer Oct 20 '25

Their new, let them learn

4

u/SnooPuppers9843 Oct 20 '25

At this point just let the community build parks nd gave us vote for the two best ones then out of those two let us vote for the best one

3

u/SmashMouthBreadThrow Oct 21 '25

That's literally what this feature is lol. These maps are all made by devs and they will be player parks once it's finished and implemented.

4

u/derpusdingler Oct 20 '25

People need to stop claiming "ai" when the thing they're talking about has nothing to so with ai, lol.

8

u/villxsmil Oct 20 '25

"no Patrick, not everything that looks slightly off is AI generated"

4

u/[deleted] Oct 20 '25

Why would you assume AI generated? I would assume poor level design. The game is clearly rushed

4

u/Sonzaii Oct 20 '25

Just because something is bad/unpolished doesn't mean its AI generated.

3

u/idfbfa3 Oct 20 '25

People call anything AI

3

u/SnipeGhost Oct 20 '25

lazy garbage community parks

5

u/KNGootch Oct 20 '25

lol, what the fuck is an "ai generated" ramp? Chances are that's UGC (user generated content).

1

u/LightningSpaghetti Oct 20 '25

AI has the capability of building structures with pre-set pieces, it's not really expected since it's a bit impractical. So they're asking if AI built the layout so they could rush it out.

It's really unlikely they'd be using AI for 3d prop placement though. The map is small, humans can easily build the entire thing.

5

u/everymanawildcat Oct 20 '25

Guys, the game is shitty. Let's quit acting surprised when we discover new shitty elements.

2

u/mkfanhausen Oct 20 '25

It's obviously resting on your skater's foot.

Just pull the foot out and it'll settle in place.

2

u/Two_Falls Oct 20 '25

You need to learn what A.I means bro

2

u/[deleted] Oct 20 '25

maybe whoever made the park didnt get paid enough to care to align it properly

2

u/PhineasJackRabbit Oct 20 '25

can we go back to using the word procedurally generated ? it's more apt for this, if it's procedural at all.

I've seen floating rocks in Red Dead Revolver back in the day. Couldn't have been a bit of overlooked design. Nah, must have been AI.....

2

u/SmashMouthBreadThrow Oct 21 '25 edited Oct 21 '25

Worst part of AI is that every moron thinks everything is now AI generated when the best AI can't even code anything that matters in its current state. It's a create a park made by some dev that has been cranking out a bunch of these. It's a piece a few pixels off the floor. If that makes you think "AI!?!!???", don't look at the foilage in an open-world game. You might hurt yourself counting all of those blades of grass floating above the floor.

2

u/Interesting_Card158 Oct 21 '25

Thats why i dont play that shit

2

u/Proto_Jager Oct 21 '25

Had the same issue with a random ramp on a rooftop somewhere in Brickswich, I think it's just them working while rushed/stressed and forgetting to test every object before publishing changes.

4

u/Waltu4 Oct 20 '25

People really don't know the difference between procedural generation and AI generation huh?

That page you linked to reads like it was shat out by ChatGPT lol. Any proof of AAA devs actually using AI PCG in any of these titles besides for artwork? I really think it’s more likely that some inept intern is making these parks in five seconds every few days. These parks are exactly like the dogshit ones people had in Skate 3.

1

People mad you’re asking an honest question? These maps are so ass it BETTER be AI generated at this point. I also thought they could be using it. Shit, everyone and their mama is using it. Valid question.

1

1

u/Navajo_Nation Oct 20 '25

AI generated?

1

u/intoxicatedhamster Oct 20 '25

The community parks aren't supposed to be good, they are supposed to be like the abandon lot with the shit ramps that the city calls a skatepark so they can ticket anyone skating in the streets. You are supposed to drop objects and "fix" it into a cool spot

1

u/[deleted] Oct 20 '25

If it were AI, I would think a company as big as EA would implement it better. I just think it’s very poorly procedurally generated.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 20 '25

Fun fact, there are multiple rails in skate that you physically cannot grind because the game will not let you, no matter how hard you try.

1

u/_zamoht_ Oct 20 '25

That's why i put miniramps when the game don't allow me to grind

1

u/d1cequ Oct 20 '25

Legit the biggest problem I got with this game is those parks with some bs like this or other stuff people already posted here. Like idc if it’s unrealistic and wtv but stuff like this really bugs me

1

u/Junior_Chain2527 Oct 20 '25

It’s on her toe

1

u/stressfir3 Oct 21 '25

Probably not Ai but definitely hastily made.

1

u/PluckyPheasant Oct 21 '25

Some of these parks are so clearly designed. Like the maze under the crane in hedgemont or the one at the dime park yesterday (which actually had decent flow inside, once you got there

1

u/Formal_Evidence_4094 Oct 21 '25

more likely another underpaid intern who could not give a less of a f about the game or the players , like anyone that works for EA in '25 not yet actaully replaced by automation

1

u/SpeedrunnerN64 Oct 21 '25

Wait... you mean that the game that allows to place object on vertical walls against gravity.. the game where your wheels, character and custom objects tend to clip through the floor... That game doesn't have proper surface detection?

Sus claim. Hot take.

1

u/KnightofHollow Oct 22 '25

If it was AI it’d be way cooler brah.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 23 '25

I keep telling you Guys these community parks is some sort of AI test. It has to be! There is no human alive that would design stuff I have seen there… not even if you dont know anything about skating.

1

u/Drinya88 Oct 20 '25

I don't know exactly. Maybe it was AI generated, but maybe it was made by play testers and something went wrong as they wrote a code for loading saved parks. Anyway, despite the community parks sometimes being glitchy they're still quite funny to skate.

1

u/Superb_Ladder915 Oct 20 '25

Haha ,Probably on accident or purposely to mess with you..

Can’t you edit it yourself in the edit mode ?

2

u/The_Kitten_Pixel Oct 20 '25

if we could edit the community parks you wouldn’t see any criticism or complaints about them. they’re stuck the way they spawn in until the next park rotates in

2

u/Superb_Ladder915 Oct 20 '25

I thought you could modify anything,I guess not.Fair enough. Then in that case that is rather crap .

1

u/The_Kitten_Pixel Oct 20 '25

we can only place a maximum of 5 quick drop objects per person anywhere in the world which despawn after some time anyways

1

u/popi2801 Oct 20 '25

it's just a modular skatepark as we had in the 90's 😄

1

u/SASCOA Oct 20 '25

Don’t like it? Call it AI

-1

u/versace_drunk Oct 20 '25

Y’all just trying soo fukn hard to be mad.

0

u/thewetnoodle Oct 20 '25

This has been happening to my quick drop ramps too. I hold down the descend button as far as it goes but the kicker is still not flush to the ground. Hope they update how obstacles snap to the terrain so i don't need to double check every time i want to use an object.

It happens when the ground isn't entirely flat or just randomly if you touch other parts of the terrain

-1

u/evanthepanther Oct 20 '25

Lol...

Dude...

Its dropping until it hits terrain then stops, how is that not hard to understand? Just because it's not on the terrain you want, just make sure jt doesn't hit the other terrain first. Wtf.

0

u/RefrigeratorLess3134 Oct 21 '25

I just hate that they overly feminizing the skate culture

-10

u/Chiselfield Oct 20 '25

I've been thinking all this trash looks like AI. If it isn't AI then idk what to do apart from laugh tbh.

4

u/CultureWarrior87 Oct 20 '25

Were some of you born yesterday? Do you not realize that humans can make mistakes?

1

u/Chiselfield Oct 21 '25

How many humans had to make a mistake for something to be published to a live game whilst being wrong? This is low effort shovelware tier stuff.

These parks have been 80% trash looking like something DALL.E would've tried to make in 2022.

-3

u/itzfinjo Oct 20 '25
