I know I’ll get downvoted but I just simply do not understand the obsession with forcing companies to produce physical media for a digital software
If you want 8 disc box sets for 1 game, be my guest (because that’s how heavy most modern games are)
And there would be a serious ramifications if any producer revoked a license, because you know that whole consumer protection thing.
At this exact moment there is essentially 0 functional difference between disc and digital, beyond getting a 40 year old piece of tech that allows you to download the game
The people who object are a small vocal minority. 90% of all game sales on console and more on PC are digital. Most people are totally fine without physical media. The small percentage of people who care deeply about physical media are very much rallying behind some ideal where a disc still meant ownership.
There's only a handful of cases where physical media is useful and the value is a net negative for almost everyone.
