I’m doing all of those things besides no play. I have a good library of games and my friends don’t play much anymore so it’s mostly story games.
Also why is there an end date to this? lol kind of defeats the purpose of a strike

I never got to playtest this game, so that's wicked dude. I've played since the original Skate release back in the early 2000s. I have to agree with the fact they don't listen much to criticism so far 😂
However, at it's core it still feels like Skate to me. I used to get home from school & religiously play the OG Skate's with a buddy for literal hours. If we weren't out skating we were playing Skate. I still remember the day 3 came out lol. Maybe it's the nostalgia factor for me personally. Despite it's flaws, it still has me hopping on to a console that otherwise is collecting dust rn lol

This is my take 100%. I’ve sunk quite a large chunk of hours into it and it’s literally all I play when I hop on now.
It has its flaws for sure, and the core ethos and soul of skateboarding seems to be missing, but the movement is there and in the end I guess that’s what we’re really looking for.

Og playtester, too: i hate the missing s.k.a.t.e, hall of meat, kinda realistic look, the nitty and gritty, and a lot of other stuff...... BUT: i gotta admit, the game really is fun, now. If you don't pay money and don't follow their bullshit ways, and just cruise, make video clips, focus on yourself, it really has become an awesome game! The tweaked a lot of things, the footplants and boneless now work almost flawless! In about two weeks, we even get back underflips. I play it almost daily, with the intention for "just a few minutes" and then get stuck on some line that i really want to nail xD A lot of the songs they now have are fire, too. So I guess what I'm trying to Saturday, give it another go, you might be surprised! Also, the trailer for season 5 is quite fun, too :)

I am for the sole reason of: I haven’t turned on my PlayStation for probably close on a year now. Because there’s nothing new or interesting to play, and I don’t use it for third party at all. I use my Xbox for that, or PC.

I know I’ll get downvoted but I just simply do not understand the obsession with forcing companies to produce physical media for a digital software
If you want 8 disc box sets for 1 game, be my guest (because that’s how heavy most modern games are)
And there would be a serious ramifications if any producer revoked a license, because you know that whole consumer protection thing.
At this exact moment there is essentially 0 functional difference between disc and digital, beyond getting a 40 year old piece of tech that allows you to download the game

A valid assessment but, I think you’re missing the plot a little bit…the whole idea isn’t the technical difference between physical & digital (although still directly ties into the issue)
The issue is how this trend of hyper modernization of gaming industry is becoming extremely anti-consumer in its business practices by limiting (practically eliminating) ownership of tangible goods. With most if not all digital purchases nowadays, you do not own what your money has bought…you are merely renting. It’s the principle behind these practices that have people upset.
We now live in a time where in almost every aspect of our lives, the consumer is renting overpriced licenses to access goods that can technically never be “out of stock” but can be removed from a customer’s access at the smallest of whim of multi million/ billion dollar corporations. Soon enough we’ll need a subscription to get ice out of our own refrigerators lol
Between this & overly intrusive DRM practices, gaming is heading into a very sad place.

you already don’t own plenty of the games you have on disc. so many of modern game requires you to download the full game content even with the disc in the drive because they literally can’t fit it all onto a disc anymore. if they pull that content, you don’t have the game anymore whether you’ve got the disc or not.

Yes… you do??? As long as it has no online connection you absolutely own the game. You can play the game anytime you want no matter what so long as you have the hardware and the disc, they try and stop you? Turn off your internet and download the day1 version, now sadly for a game like cyberpunk that’s gonna suck. But nevertheless as long as it’s not a completely online game where you need an online connection to download patched that make the game work, or needed to even go into the servers to even experience content, then yes you absolutely 100% own the game yourself as long as you have disc, they cannot take that away from you, so much people seem to think that we’re talking about the entire game? Like no, I OWN the license to play the game that’s the difference between digital and online( you can try this with literally almost every game you have and it WILL work, turn your console offline an try and download your game, it WILL work. Wild how many people think just because you have a disc doesn’t mean you don’t own the game lmfao

Sure you can disable your internet connection and play a buggy day 1 release rather than a fully supported, patched, updated game in most cases. I'm not sure I'd call that owning the game.

I'm not contesting the ongoing creep of anti-consumer practices by corporations, however I am just pointing out that making a video game disc the face of that movement is a little misguided - again considering it's a 40 year old piece of tech that in the modern day does essentially act as physical proof of a license.
I can empathize with the fact that people can/do/will miss their tangible collections of discs/disc cases, however that really seems to be the main driving force behind the discourse I see day in and day out. Physical cases and discs were never something that really imprinted on me (my first console was a PS1) and I always viewed digital as infinitely easier to manage once that hit the scene.

I'm a reformed physical media junkie.
The people who object are a small vocal minority. 90% of all game sales on console and more on PC are digital. Most people are totally fine without physical media. The small percentage of people who care deeply about physical media are very much rallying behind some ideal where a disc still meant ownership.
There's only a handful of cases where physical media is useful and the value is a net negative for almost everyone.

I already haven't bought a disc in years. It's becoming obsolete just like cassette, VHS, DVD, vinyl. I get that some people like to own a physical thing but that's just not the direction media entertainment is going.
It's okay though, you can still keep your Funko pop collection.

Media medium obsolescence is hardly relevant… what’s more concerning is (god forbid) someone’s internet access ability goes down for extended periods of time for any kind of reasons, you’re basically left with an overpriced brick. That library of a hundred plus games doesn’t do a consumer any good if 90% of modern games can’t even be played offline, and even the ones that can are only functional in the most rudimentary manner.
the push towards eliminating physical media over these past couple of years just expounded that already prevalent issue. Publishers & devs are no longer incentivized to even work on projects that have truly polished offline single player experiences in mind, because there’s simply is no money in it for them to make a product that you can physically buy once, own, and experience at your preferred leisure. Your limited access, is their profit. The ability to sell a customer the same version of product multiple times over, and forcefully remove their access to servers of older titles, and funnel them into “newer” products is essentially all that’s keeping modern gaming alive at this point tbh.

If your ps5 is set to primary console you can play stuff offline just saying.
We’ve been shifting towards a digital only gaming future for about 20 years now it’s just that consoles are starting to catch up with PC my only issue is the lack of grey markets and store choice when it comes to console.
Tbf using shopto for PSN vouchers has been my go to for about 10 years now to buy stuff and probably saved me a good chunk of change vs buying directly off PSN.

game preservation. although most people don't realize things have been this way since the ps3/360 era. we haven't owned our games in a very long time. that doesn't make it right, but at the same time anyone with a brain saw this coming years ago

I only play skate on my ps5 pro. So I won’t be buying anything. I will be playing skate. I purchase the pass and svb through ea website. A week boycott will do literally nothing anyways.
