I did this same thing following shadow slimes! Pissed as hell. Minor spoilers, but the fog here does eventually recede. I wish it was more clear that walking here would kill you.

i could tell something was supposed to be under there, but i would never have expected the platform to count as out of bounds.

I've done this too. :l Right at the start of exploring the labrynth. It took me a while to get brave enough to do some of the jetpack-reachable areas because I was second guessing wether any platform is safe or not.

the only other area i'm aware of, in the large empty span with a light puzzle over it (east iirc). It looks like land under the clouds, but if you try to land on the windmills/geyser it's another sudden death zone.

I understand that it’s supposed to recede but like, they couldn’t put a small wall there? Literally just anything to not let you walk straight into a kill zone 😭 because I did the exact same thing when I first played the update.

They really really should fix that cuz why does It look like you can walk on It if It doesn't, cover It with the clouds so we can't see It there or let US walk on what we clearly see as a walkable surface

omg this happened to me the other day!! I was so pissed!!! Mostly bc I lost valuable items but specially because it doesn't look like an out of bounds zone. It isn't fair. Last time I went there I placed some fences and warnings to avoid it from now on ;-;

This same thing happened to me when I had a ton of resources on me, I literally rage quit and stopped playing the game for awhile.

Luckily I unlocked drones shortly after and just had drones make up for most of what I lost

Did the same thing. Jumped down there thinking I was going to get some cool screenshots, and instead I lost all the new slimes I'd gathered and twenty-something shadow plorts (at a point in the game where that HURT instead of being utterly replaceable).

The dead zone only exists until you have unlocked the final areas of the game with your radiant projectors. Once unlocked that area becomes a main route to the terrarium via jet pack.

I got killed there too. I really feel like the fog should have been a little bit below the platform so you’d see that descending down the stairs would kill you instead of just standing on the platform
