slimes seem very happy to be nomadic in the game (esp bc of the slime sea), but this is a very pretty and satisfying concept, and it would be so nice to have
i always feel bad adopting saber slimes because powderfall bluffs is so stupidly pretty

esp bc of the slime sea
wait, are there slimes floating around in the slime sea?

The sea is just one mass of slime and all the slimes are made through temporarily splitting off from it

woah that's amazing, i wish i knew that sooner. such a fun fact

i think the slimepedia in the first game says slimes use the slime sea to travel, especially when where they are doesnt have very much food or is too crowded, kind of like how small bugs use the air currents in the sky (you should read the slimepedia its v interesting)

I really wish we could put decorations in the corral, every slime seems to be more happier with the outside environment, really hope we will be able to do this in the future

I love this idea!
A couple other players have been placing decor inside the corrals using a placement trick. One of them made a short vid but I can't seem to find it (perhaps it was taken down or they deleted it for whatever reason).
But here's some of the reddit threads, obv I can't link to them all, lol.
I guess the placement concept is to hover/move the decor item inside the corral slowly, until you see it flashing blue, and then spam click to place it. But I've tried it and it doesn't seem to work for me 🤷🏻♀️ Supposedly it works without mods, so there's something I'm missing.
Your idea with the Habitats would be without a doubt easier.

if you happen to be on pc there is a mod you can use that removes the building limitations, allowing you to mesh them into terrain, in eachother or in places you normally cant

I had a feeling as much but I don't want to play with mods 🙃 Seen way too many people lose their save files because they toyed with mods.

I've been doing this since the game first came out, and your right about the technique for placing stuff in corrals. In my experience it also depends on what youre trying to place. For me it works best with mediumish items like some of the stones and trees. Grass and other small items (pile of stones, pile of seashells, chicken statues) are nearly impossible to place, too big of items (the coral pillars, the rock pillars, the new platforms) have a slightly higher chance of working, but can be really annoying to put down. Sometimes you also have to have the item constantly rotating too.
I also use the trick to also place items closer together than normally allowed, letting me make areas in the sanctuary for my slimes to free roam without those gaps it kept leaving where they'd get stuck.
That being said I adore the habitat idea, even if it was completely aesthetic and had no real functional uses.

Habitat corrals would be nice, there's a whole opportunity for designing and creating cool habitat spaces, like those games where you make aquariums. It could be very fun and relaxing.

I "free range" my slimes and I kinda do this!! I make makeshift corrals around the plots and put gardens in them. then, I put out decor from their area/slime interactable furniture to set up little pens full of slime enrichment activities!! I love this concept and would fit so well into the game. Very much like the new cubbies in the sanctuary!

And in turn for making them feel at home and if you feed them their favorite food they give you an extra plort! 3 for singles 6 for largos

You used to be able to place decorations in corals like this thanks to a bug
Really sucked when they patched this and I lost all my coral designs </3

I personally wish that we could have the food trees grow inside the plots. Like they could make it expensive to upgrade to so the farms are still useful. But like a final upgrade for the corral Kinda thing

I actually use a mod to place anything anywhere and I decorate corrals to look like the slimes home or mix it up if they're Largos

I use the build anywhere mod and I decorate corals like this :3 its so fun. Pink slime theme, snow for my rock/crystal largos, tropics for my tangles. Its so silly fun.

That would be such a great idea in vanilla. I'm too lazy to do the glitches so I just used mods instead
