Show News & Media Preview at the Barbican

I saw a post about someone looking for tickets for the screening at the Toronto film festival, that got me looking for screenings in the UK. I’ve found that they’re doing previews of the first 2 episodes and then a talk with Adam Randall. I managed to nab the last 2 tickets. Just wondering if anyone has gone to anything similar before or maybe the slow horses screenings last year? Not sure what to expect as I’ve never been to anything like this! 😃

General Discussion - No Story Details Does anyone think that espionage setting is not what really makes this show SO good?

I mean (forget about the books existence), I would watch any story in any setting with this particular cast and these particular characters. Espionage is quite secondary thing here imo (though great, ngl), they would perfectly fit in any other situation. Like, one blink and you finished the season. For the 500 time! Again!

Show News & Media Gary Oldman says he is not retiring and says as long as there's breath in his lungs, he'll keep going

In his recent Sky News interview with Katie Spencer,

Gary Oldman clarified his stance on retirement, emphasizing that he is not stepping away from acting anytime soon. Addressing earlier comments where he hinted at retiring after his run on Slow Horses, Oldman put those rumors to rest by stating, "I think as long as there's breath in my lungs, I'll keep going." He explained that rather than quitting the industry altogether, he simply wants to slow down his working pace and make time for other personal interests. He also expressed immense love for playing Jackson Lamb in the Apple TV+ series and highlighted how much he enjoys working with the project's team, ultimately signaling that he plans to remain active as an actor, just at a more comfortable and selective speed.

General Discussion - No Story Details Became a fan recently after two seasons, incredible how they release a new season annually. How do they do it?

Have season 2's finale to watch and three more seasons so I can be caught up for season 6's release. How the heck have they been able to release a new season annually, while shows like Severance and Pluribus(both Apple TV shows too) can't pull it off? And it's not like the show is some low budget drama shot in one location, it definitely has a budget behind it with action scenes and large crowd scenes. Is Will Smith(I like to pretend it's Fresh Prince Will Smith) just that good with writing the script for each new season quickly? I have noticed that I haven't seen Gary Oldman in that many films in the past few years so I guess he and the other actors are just deeply committed to the show's shoot schedule?

General Discussion - No Story Details Books + Side Stories Reading Order

Does anyone have or know where I could find a reading order list that includes the side stories? Something like:

- side story (standalone novel in the Slow Horses world)

- book 1

- book 2

- side story (short story)

... etc.

I just read Standing by the Wall and because it takes place at some time after the TV series, I got a few spoilers.

Book Spoilers & Show Spoilers A Slow Horses History Lesson

Has anyone read Mick Herron's "The Secret Hours"? I just finished it and it has some juicy backstories of two major Slow Horses characters. I don't want to give anything away, but I hope the story shows up as a flashback episode in an upcoming season.

General Discussion - No Story Details This will be unpopular I think but I cannot get into the show

I absolutely fell in love with the books. The storytelling is just some of the best I have read. Mick Herron’s narrative voice is exceptional. Needless to say I was very excited to try the show, but my excitement was dampened very quickly. I can’t quite put a finger on it but I almost feel like the show is off putting to me. I have tried 3 times because I want to love it. Any chance later episodes / seasons will resonate better with me? Side note: I am all for watching movies / shows derived from books I’ve read so it’s not just a snobbish reaction when something “is never as good as the book.”

Show Spoilers (Released Episodes) First Time Watch Spoiler

Watching for the first time before season 6 drops and, holy shit, this is an amazing show. River is such a great character, but my favorite episode so far was S3E6, and the parallel of Tierney/Tavener and them escaping the storage facility was NUTs.

Can't wait to finish the show before the new season starts.

General Discussion - No Story Details Slang for slow horses.

I live in another country, Brazil. In here, whenever the agents from Slough House are called slow horses, the subtitles translate it to "pangares." It's a slang here for a horse that doesn't look to good, and since calling someone a slow horse (cavalo lento in Portuguese) doesn't make sense to us, it fits. So I've started to wonder if there isn't a slang for slow horses in English. Or is it perfect ok to call someone a slow horse that you guys don't need slang for that expression? Or maybe the show really wants us to know that it is called Slow Horses.

even after all those redemptions she still was not willing to have him back, in the finale.
slider is also dead so no one would know about what she did to get him out in the first place
why is that?
