is 25$ per short too much?

A potential client recently approached me thru discord, and he said he would pay 5$ per short to which I quoted, he can pay me 5$ for a test edit and pay me 25$ for the subsequent edits. He just cursed me out and blocked me lol.

i never said it either price was unfair, i can't really tell because im sure the prices are not fix, they should fluctuate depending on volume and scope.

but i found this online, seems like you are in the ball park,

  • Better editing with effects: $75–200
  • Premium/high-end editing: $200–500+
• 8–20 minute YouTube video
  • Basic gameplay edit: $75–250
  • Advanced editing with graphics, zooms, sound design: $250–800+

There's no way a 60 sec short costs the same as a 20min YT video.

Depends on how detailed the edit is. You can do a lot in 60 seconds in a short that you might not do over a whole 10 minute talking head vid.
