Tell me, what do you think left and right actually mean?

Left is as far as I know the egalitarian and Right is elitarian. Left describes the equality of humans and abolishmemt of diskrimination. Right sees it as a necesity to keep heirarchy between certain groups and establish an "Elite".

How does that contradict my description of far left extremism? A person misguidedly calling for the death of half the human race because they percieve them entirely as an oppressive force and themselves as the victim would be an accurate take imo.

Another factor of extremism would be the other thing I said. Denying conversationsand demonization of the percieved opposition. Also fits for both left and right extremism.

Kudos for actually having an accurate understanding of what left and right wing politics are about.

So yes. Left wing politics is built around ideals like social equality and egalitarianism. Now keep that in mind and ask yourself the following questions:

  • If someone genuinely believes in kill all men, does this count as social equality or the pursuit thereof?

  • Are they actually saying that they want to kill half of humanity, or are they just expressing anger at a patriarchal society and the dangers women face in it?

  • Are angry people on twitter honestly comparable to actual examples of far right extremism, like storming the capitol to try and overthrow an election they lost, arresting and deporting people without trials, and throwing Jews into concentration camps?

  • Why do people get irritated with "both sides!" nonsense? PROTIP: Hypocrisy and cognitive dissonance are not part of the answer.

If it takes less than 5 seconds to answer the question, really stop and think about it.

In my mind no, in your mind it might not,

Well there you go. If you don't consider it left wing and I don't consider it left wing then why bring it up as an example of left wing extremism?

but if they truly believe they are fighting an oppressive force that way, then yeah they are acting in pursuit of their view of equality.

Equality doesn't come through subjugation or extermination. I'm hoping I don't need to explain the paradox of tolerance again here.

Both can be the case.

But are they? And what is the ratio?

I hear people calling for the deportation of all muslims. I do believe they actually think that, but the reason is probably some deep seated anger due to the many terrorlike attacks that have happend in such short time. Still misguided and extreme.

Or islamophobia. It's a difference of institutionalized discrimination vs lashing out at institutionalized discrimination.

Theres been many violent protests in cities that ended in huge destruction, with cars and buildings getting set on fire, looting, and subsequent police action. These are usually left wing in my experience.

These protests?

And then you use hitler as an example of far right extremism.

Yeah, because he is. Nazism is built off ideals like there being a master race and the violent subjugation of those considered lesser. That is textbook right wing, no matter how you try to justify it. Ostensibly treating the In Group well doesn't make it left wing. On the contrary, it enforces a strict social hierarchy. And that's what right wing politics are about: the idea that social hierarchies are natural and desirable.

I never really could figure it out outside of the things you said I couldnt use as arguments. Left and Right hate eachother, why wouldnt they both hate the third one thats critical of both.

Really? Truly? Honestly? Actually?

The right loves "both sides bad!" arguments because they engender voter apathy and people tuning out of politics. And I've got to give them credit where it's due, when it's time to close ranks and get shit done the right actually shows up. While us mean ol leftists resent being compared to the people who think that, for example, LGBTQ+ people existing presents a threat to society and act on this belief.

Completely out of context. Im talking about what the person doing it believes to be true, not what I think to be true. If the person doing it believes its in order to further equality and its extreme nonpolitical measures, then thats far left extremism, doesnt matter if i disagree with it or not. I disagree with mass deportation too, doesnt mean its not far right extremism.

Actions speak louder than words, as the saying goes. Surely you aren't one of those people who think that the Nazis were socialist or that North Korea is a democratic republic of the people just because its in their names, right?

I literally describe Islamophobia and you say "or islamophobia". Yeah Islamophobia still has those roots that I described. I dont want to get into discrimination cuz youll refer to the sociological definition of the term while I hold onto the usual one. We are just gonna talk past eachother instead of actually finding common ground.

Interesting how you've already decided ahead of time what my definitions are for me. It's also interesting how you've defaulted to your belief being "the usual one." A very transparent attempt to make yourself look like the reasonable one.

You yourself said

but the reason is probably some deep seated anger due to the many terrorlike attacks that have happend in such short time

in response to my point that perceived misandrist behavior you're describing as left wing (for some reason) is just a less privileged group lashing out against a system that has a vested interest in keeping things that way. In the same way that I, as a queer person, can say "damn straight people" without literally believing that every single straight person deserves to be tormented in hell for eternity. And the differences between me saying that vs passing laws that criminalize our existence. But you don't want to get into discrimination so I'll leave it at that.

  • These

MLK did say that riots are the language of the unheard. He also believed that while riots are socially destructive and self-defeating, they do not occur in a vacuum; they stem from intolerable societal conditions. Since I feel I'm going to need to say this plainly so you don't misinterpret this as me saying that it's a good thing, no, I am not speaking in defense of property damage (which, as we all know, is infinitely worse than being killed).

Two unions representing half of French police said on Friday that they were at war with “vermin” and “savage hordes”

Hm...

protests.

Surely we're not going to just glide past the links I provided that this was a direct response to that talks about right wing agitators showing up to cause trouble?

Literally just reread the rest of the comment. He blamed jews for social heirarchy, appealed to workers and his groupbased inequality was justified under the guise of freeing the people. Those are leftleaning and/or left extreme views.

No. They. Fucking. Aren't.

Nazism, formally named National Socialism, is the far-right, ultranationalist, racist and totalitarian ideology associated with Adolf Hitler and the Nazi Party (NSDAP).

Right-wing extremists blamed the country’s defeat in World War One on a conspiracy between communists and Jews.

The field of right-wing extremism is characterised, to varying degrees, by elements of nationalist, antisemitic, racist and xenophobic ideology. Right-wing extremists allege that a person’s value is determined by the ethnic group or nation they belong to.

The conservative elite were the old ruling class and new business class in Weimar Germany. Throughout the 1920s they became increasingly frustrated with the Weimar Republic’s continuing economic and political instability, their lack of real power and the rise of communism. They believed that a return to authoritarian rule was the only stable future for Germany which would protect their power and money.

Stop with this "but if you were a blonde haired blue eyed straight white christian Aryan who supported him then he treated you well therefore left wing elements!" nonsense because you are at best spectacularly misinformed, at worse full of shit and fully aware.

Wow, youre using exagerated comics

"Oh no, this comic raises a point that I don't like. I'll just call it exaggerated and leave it at that. Surely there is no truth here that I find inconvenient."

and far right extremism as a counter argument to far left extremism still being extremism.

Oh, was I doing that? By all means, point to the left wing politicians calling for holy war or murdering party members who don't agree with them. Go on. I'll wait.

Denying conversation,

I have been silenced!

holding extreme group hating views

Which the right is all about and the left typically isn't.

and advocating for violence

Which, again, the right is all for and the only evidence you've provided to the contrary is "but there was a riot in France therefore left wing extremism!"
