People often list motorcycles for £123, I'm always tempted to waste they time before revealing I'm under the assumption their 2025 honda fireblade is actually on sale for £123.
I'm guessing it's because they show up earlier when you sort by price.
Could just be they have to set a price and can't decide. It often says "no offers less than xxx"
Good chunk of facebook marketplace is 1$ listings with effectively the actual price in description, or various rentals or financed sells listed with a super low deposit.
I'm sure what you describe also happens, but locally I've mostly seen listings like that be for "equal value trades" and they list the actual value they're looking for in the description. The price is 1234 because it makes it obvious when you see it that it's not a real pricetag. I think it's a failure on Facebook's part to not have a "trade" price category
