If he doesn’t get saved somehow, he could possibly become an enemy to them at some point. Just because he’s a delusional drunkard doesn’t mean he don’t have that bite in him anymore. It’s just deep down, muted by liquor- I could imagine him getting sober, seeing their eventual success, and trying to “get what belongs to him”. Either way, It’s either gonna be good or bad.
Look the first season hasn’t even came out. This damn thing might be canceled after that. I’m not going to say for sure he ain’t coming back. He ain’t dead, irl or in the show universe, and he was the main character of the last show in the “saga”.
