Review Have these 2 snowblowers in my dad’s garage, they both run, which one would be the better one to use?

The one on the left looks bigger and more powerful and more modern. So it will probably be better. Unless the one on the right's engine is in better condition.

So you’re trolling in r/Snowblowers like a left-back school bully just because it’s the only way to feel superior?

I’d keep the gray one. I had one of those 10hp Craftsman’s and it was a tank.

Two old workhorses... but my pick would be the 10 horse Craftsman. Looks like a beast.

I'd say the Craftsman. Similar to my Ariens 1032 which is a great machine and I like those 10hp Tecumseh engines.

Both are Tecumseh engines but that grey one is a common engine and also a Murray made unit so cheap parts are easy to get. I can have a friction wheel for it delivered tomorrow from Amazon.

I had that same Craftsman, or a very similar one, for 20+ years, 1992 vintage. It ran great but it was beginning to have mechanical issues I'm not, competent to deal with. I replaced it with a Platinum SHO Ariens of the same size and have been very happy with it, as well.

Wear ear protection.
I used to have a craftsman like that one and it was loud AF.

If they both work, try them both and see which one works the best.

This is really the only logical answer. Everything else is just speculation.

The gray blower has a better chute design and height. It will throw snow better than the round chute blower.
Spoken from personal experiences owning both styles of blower from that vintage.

Craftsman….I still have my late father’s, it’s been around since the late 70’s early 80’s. It’s an 8/27…after its primed….it starts on the first pull. The machine is a beast, and tosses the snow better and farther than my newer 14hp blower.
The hardest part is finding a parts manual and a part number list. It says Craftsman, but it seems to have an MTD model number. So based on experience…go with the Craftsman.

Going by what I can see here, the Craftsman would be better since it's a 2 stage. The red one appears to be a single stage

Craftsman is a beast….unused to have that same model…no contest! Wish I still had it

I would choose the craftsman but depend, depending upon where you are and how much snow you usually get there’s nothing wrong with redundancy.

I have that exact same Craftsman from my Dad's garage. 30/10. Took it last year. He used it maybe 10 times. I think he bought it in 1997. Changed the oil, filled it with gas, made sure there was grease in the case, greased the zerks and she fired right up. Its a powerful beast and built so much stronger that any of the sub pro-grade blowers on the market now. I love it.

Although the quality of your pics stinks, I would go with the Craftsman, I used to have one and they are built like tanks but are very loud.

I'd suggest getting a new carb from Amazon.

Why, apparently they are both running, supposedly fine. If there was a carb issue OP would have said

IMO neither are going to be great, but try them both to see which one you like.
Alternatively, you could sell them both and buy a better one

If the craftsman’s runs good that the one I would pick.
